I was watching something on CNN about the internet and sex offenders and they said that myspace took about 25,000(it may be more actually) offenders off of their site. Does this worry anyone on this site? I mean, I know alot of you have children and how do you cope with the possibility that someone you're talking to could be a sex offender?
They showed one guy who was a convicted child rapist and he had a profile on a dating site and they e-mailed him on a fake profile of a woman saying she had two kids and within a couple hours this guy responded asking her out for coffee and ice cream lol. Makes you wonder how many might be on here seriously. Creepy if you ask me. |

mt theory goes that if you look for trouble, youll find it. its really just an attitude.

I think the actual number that myspace took off was closer to 65,000 but I missed it so I may still be wrong.

Rambill what do you mean by that? Are you talking about the sex offenders or are you saying if we as good people look for trouble we will find it?

Ok, well, All I can say is that WE (we being non sex offenders) should not have to worry about "looking for trouble" as we are not here looking for trouble at all. If there are sex offenders crawling around on here, they are the ones causing trouble just by being here. If some skank freak child rapist is hunting possible victims here or anywhere, that is the only person looking for trouble. Its not "just an attitude" its a way of life for these slugs.

First of all it is free to the public to look up sex offenders. You can on the internet to look if you think that is scary go to the site and put in your own zip code that is were you should be more aware of who is living around you. Most sex offenders go after younger kids when by internet ones that live close to them in order to lure them to places they live close too and out of the way places. Online it's not so much to worry if the conversation is all over the internet it is if you are planning to meet them. If so hope ones at least go to a public place were there is a crowd Better to be safe than sorry.

This is true and I agree that EVERYONE should look up their zip code and find out who lives around you BUT, online can be dangerous lol. This guy that they set up was more than willing to travel and meet someone and he was trying to do it. Also remember that online, they wont use their real names so its even more difficult to know for sure who they are. Its really pretty sick. Although, I guess since myspace caught so many of them, some of them do use their real names. Goes to show that many of them are pretty stupid I suppose. I'm sure they all arent so stupid though.
