Topic: 61% Favor Immigration Checks On Traffic Stops

I agree.

Random traffic stops have been made to check for driver's liscenses because of the number of people who break the law.

Random traffic stops have been made to check for DWI because of the number of people who break the law.

Now, random traffic stops are being considered to check for illegal status because of the number of people who break the law ... and make no bones about it, being in the country illegally is a crime and a danger to the driving public. The police are there to enforce the law.

Well said & direct to the point.

Except this 'random' stop will be those of us with dark hair, eyes and skin...interesting to note this would be middle eastern and hispanic.

That was happening in the UK some years ago but we are ahead of the US in this respect and this practice has more or less stopped.

For supposedly civilized countries to operate like this in the 21st century is mind boggling.

Racism and Greed seem to go hand-in-hand

If I pulled Leigh over for a routine traffic check, I would give her a good frisking ... maybe two to make sure she wasn't carrying anything illegal!laugh

And I would just sit back and enjoy......Frisk me baby...pitchfork

Yea, there are lots of other dark..I'm a dark white girl myself.
Most won't be confused with mexican and middleastern.

I'm seeing cops single out a 'potential terrorist' ~ middle eastern, and Mexicans...that IS the border everyone talks about in the numerous threads on the subject.

But that would be quite an assumption for me.. to think the cops or society in general would encourage this sort of racial profiling...
now wouldn't it!

Every country including Ireland turns on the foreigners when it hurts in their pockets.

Everyone turns a blind eye when things are good.

Look above you folks...not below...

The people you are dissing are worse off than you and just because you cannot be one of the 1% do not take it out on those that are less well off.

This is true.
This has been going on for eons and the last few years that 'we' are in a money pinch, all of a sudden 'we' care.
Nobody cared when the illegals were here picking the oranges and apples for 5 bucks less an hour than 'us'.

Money is tight..hmmmm
who can we get rid of now?!?!

Greed, it's all about greed. If not the 1% then our own.

Do you understand how big the wheel is, how complicated?...It takes time to turn....And PS...I have cared about illegal entry for as long as I can remember...probably longer than you have lived....It is NOT about the money...How many recessions have you lived through, how many depressions?

Thank you for assuming I'm so young....flowerforyou

I have cared about the well being of
my fellow humans as far back as I can remember.

I didn't assume, twelve years younger is young to me...flowerforyou

So you were concerned about immigration when you were 12?
I was concerned about my fellow humans when I was 12.

The beauty of uniqueness ....Yes, at 12 I was made aware...my parents talked politics at the dinner table....every nightwhoa : ....like the sponges all children are, my siblings and I soaked it up....

Yes, I remember the dinner time conversations myself.
I only soaked up what resonated with me, even at the tender age of 12 I knew people were more important than the politics.

The beauty of uniqueness indeed.

The problem with your response to me is that it seems to come without aforethought...when did I ever say I feel politics precede people in level of importance ?...Are you saying I cannot care about people if I am interested in politics?

I can't say how you feel about anything, I can only go by what you post.

All of your posts have been about the rules, the laws, the politics...
'lets talk about our own sons and daughters first'

You seem to see illegals as not as important as 'us'.
I see ALL humans important, much more than any rules.

The topic IS about the complications illegals create in my country, not humanitarian responsibilities to the needy!....

As I said..the complications from illegals were not any concern until the deficit became such an issue. Not everyone is aware at 12. Honestly, NO ONE else cared before.

Allowing the corrupt cops to detain drivers (if they happen to not have proof of citizenship) rough them up, impound their cars, take their children into protective custody...
the concerns over illegals crosses over into humanitarian concerns.
The 2 issues can not be separated. If we only look at the legal implications we neglect the human side.

I do not agree with you, concern about the problems of illegal immigration did not begin with the latest recession....

All "cops" are not corrupt....

If proper paperwork can be presented, as with a drivers license or proof of auto insurance, unless the person stopped is breaking another law, these things you state will not happen...

Lastly, the two issues can be separated for several specific reasons, specific circumstances....What you say would lead one to believe that you feel no one should be questioned for any reason because they are human beings...This is beyond comprehension...We must deal with the problems of illegal immigration for a myriad of reasons...Money is only one of those reasons and it does not head the list...

Yea ok Leigh...

Cops NEVER abuse their power. laugh

You win, I'm speechless.

This was never a contest, not for me anyway...You and I see things differently is all....and there is nothing wrong with that....if my words about something I consider important are taken out of context by you or anyone else, I will do my best to clarify...Like this for example...I did not say cops never abuse their power, they do...I said "all" cops are not corrupt...

I would like to meet these not corrupt cops, seriously I would cause I don't know any..

'lets talk about our own sons and daughters first'
makes your point very clear, i understand.

You are so off base with this statement...I will not let you spin my words to suit your agenda because you have a chip on your shoulder..."Our own sons and daughters" meaning those of every US citizens, every legal citizen Ladylid...

Ummm,I don't thinks so. They can only pull over for an infraction of the law. If then pulled over all should have to verify citizenship anyways. Thereby, targeting illegals. Personally, it's my belief the insane, heretics, and terrorists come in many colors skin, hair and eye color.

I'm no white girl. I am willing to produce my citizenship anytime anyplace. Seriously, look at my pictures. I could easily be mistaken for an illegal. I think I would get pulled over more than you if it was racial profiling. I live in Florida, and I have yet to be pulled over for any reason just to check my citizenship.

Although no health records is a problem, the use without pay, of hospital services has bankrupted some hospitals and is expected to close more. This one effect costs the US billions annually above and beyond their cost to welfare systems.

Two major money drainers for hospitals...ER's cannot deny service...Therefore, many people who could afford health insurance don't buy it and just use ER's leaving the hospitals with unpaid bills and collection expense..
Medicare is the second, the government giveth and the government taketh away...In 1983 Medicare instituted a policy of reimbursement which only covered certain things eliminating a major source of income for hospitals Nationwide...In 2003, Congress passed the Medicare Prescription Drug Ace which provided for recovery audits on drug overcharges...RAC was paid up front and totally commissioned based...the more overcharges the more money they made...Hospitals spent billions in overcharge fines and even more on legal fees to fight each fine before the way in which RAC was paid was modified...
