So, I want to sleep..
Haven't slept in four days... I'm an insomniac. I also suffer from Pharmacophobia (fear of taking medicine) >.> I'm at my wits end. And I refuse to take sleeping pills. =O Any suggestions?! |

Get Ash to whack you in the head. That might make you sleepy.

..it'd take him forever to get here..
For one. Two. That'd knock me unconscious, not asleep. I'm looking for something.. more.. permanent? :( |

....C-SPAN?
...seriously? I said sleep... ...not commit suicide. |

Find some porn and jack off a few times...
Read all the dead threads in the Forums without typing a single reply... Try reading the federal tax code... Go outside and chase cars - on foot - until you tire yourself out... Listen to some old Ben Stein or Steven Wright tapes. Let the monotone lull you like a hypnotist... Try listening - not watching - just about anything Paris Hilton, Linsday Lohan, or Brittney Spears has to say. You'll know it's working when they all sound like Charlie Brown's teacher... |

watch C-SPAN this is actually a pretty functional suggestion I play ocean sounds or the sounds of rain on my computer sometimes & that works - I have numerous sleep remedies that work for me, however, I sleep usually without problems so don't resort to any remedy too often |

I do, almost every night. That just gives me a headache. Far too cold for that. Those two make me puke. ..and again, I don't want to commit suicide. |

There is no placebo for getting good and tired.
Lose the caffeine and carbs (they keep the brain active.) Sit in a really uncomfortable position for half an hour before going to bed. The home 'stretch' sets you up for slumber. |

I echo the warm milk statement.
Also, when I can't sleep, I recite boring stuff only I am interested in to myself mentally. Whether it is sports stats, the names of every single smurf, how many games you've played in your life and how well you did in them... just something tedious and mind numbing. |

Have you tried exhaustive exercise? Have you tried reading a calculus book?
Also, id work on your fear. Irrational fears that effect behavior are not good. $.02 |

In reality, I just stay up. Sometimes I can stay awake for nearly 3 days without even a nap. Sooner or later, I will get tired and sleep for about 12 hours. The point of doing this is to reset my internal clock. It doesn't happen overnight, and this is just the first step. The next step is getting sleep a few hours at a time at various times of the day whenever I feel tired. After several days, I'll find myself waking up earlier and getting tired earlier. Pretty soon after, my sleep schedule is back to normal. It's a sort of acclimatization, I guess.

Thank you for the all the viable and realistic not-perverse ideas.
I tried the whole yoga thing. -Nada. Cut down my carb and caffeine intake in the later hours. -Nada. I even forced myself to watch C-Span.. >.> I don't own a calculus book anymore, lol. Only fear I know I have Bushido.. is the medicine thing. ..and is not so much a fear, I just hate pills. As for the warm milk: Can't. Lactose intolerant. >.> Or, well, not really.. Milk makes me sick. Cheese, Ice Cream, etc, doesn't. So, whatever that is.. that's me. As for the actual sleep issue. I don't believe it is actually stress, or being hyped up or worked up. In fact, I write the best at these hours, because my mind is very mellow, at peace, and rather clear if not empty. I'm sure if it was stress related sex itself or masturbation would work wonders.. So.. thank you all for your ideas.. ..but back to the drawing board, unless you see one I didn't mention? Might have not tried it or just forget to label it.. |

Well, the next step is to start eating plenty of turkey, either for dinner or for late night snacks. Load up on that triptophan which turkey naturally contains, and which is medically proven to cause drowsiness.
All natural... No pills... BUT You have to eat a substantial amount. Deli-sliced turkey isn't cost-effective. You would have to buy a turkey breast (you can buy them already cooked in some stores), and portion it out so you can freeze it to prevent spoilage. Individual portions will not only thaw faster, but will prevent you from having to repeatedly re-freeze the unused turkey. Thawing and re-freezing meats too many times will eventually cause it to fall apart. |
