I have never picked anyone up, I stopped going to bars when I stopped selling papers.

However, a line of introduction I usually use is, "Have you seen me walking around here anywhere? I seem to have lost myself."

hi is usually the best one if they are interested seems like they will let you know.

When I was in college, I would get those
silly questions that guys ask, without
forethought:

'Are you doing anything Friday night?'
I would say:
'No, but I can get out of it.'

Dead silence.
Every time.

Nope I beg to differ. You have to be more conversational than that.

Don't expect the other person to start the conversation.

The usual response to "hi" is "hi" and then the conversation ends.

You need to put in a bit more effort than that.

Hi only works if you have something to follow up with. If you're saying hi in hopes of them starting the conversation for you, it probably won't work well.

I like to observe until I learn something that I can use to begin a conversation. That way, when I do make an approach, I already know something she that interests her.

Nothing's 100% though. There's the occasional misread that causes everything to backfire. That's when its time to get another drink....on the other side of the bar.

Still, having been "the guy in the corner" for years, I eventually learned how to make that a positive. I like to observe. I've always been a bit selective. Why not put to a more constructive use?

Saying Hello usually starts the conversation for me.

probably so ive never been the romancer im just brutaly honest which is sometimes a good thing an sometimes a not so good thing but at least they know how i feel. hard for hermits to say alot we know the words they just dont come out till i know them better.sometimes its like a shy thing especially if im really attracted to them .lol crazy person here .
