What makes me tick?

The doctors are still trying to figure that out. Personally I think it may have something to do with the 25 years I have spent cleaning up the toxic crap that society keeps dumping into our environment. frustrated frustrated

Don't get me started...am very passionate about environmental issues. I'm not an advocate of corporal punishment but have very strong feeling about polluters and I'm not just talking about the corporates/big multi nationals. I'm talking about the litter bugs and non recyclers as well

What makes me tick is spending time with my dog, Lady. I base this on the mayonnaise commercial by Miracle Whip because you got to break some eggs to get some real mayonnaise. To made whole one first has to be broken. Some people look at this as the broken windows theory. Sure my dog, Lady has some ticks and they are nasty little blood suckers but they are realer to me than vampires. I spend time with her and I get ticks, too but still they are easier to deal with than blood sucking people. I am staying away from those relationships that just suck the life out of you. I know that a real friend will stab you in the front and a fake friend will stab you in the back but some times it is nice to spend time with my best friend, Lady who won't stab you at all. She might gnaw on you or lick your hand but she means no disrespect. Sometimes you just to take a licking and keep on ticking like Timex.

This was a nice and kind post. Sort of a heart-warmer.

I used to have a lady, too, who made me tic... a long, long time ago. Her heart was cautious, her mind was keen.

I consider fetsihes to be mostly normal

but cutural fetishes as superficial as they do not speak to the person inside the dark skin, or the red hair & freckles (me)

Tbh, I used to have a problem with white men that only dated black women and black men that only dated white women. I thought that their preference was either based on some throwback to slavery (conscious or subconscious) or on some weird urban myth. I just didn't get it.

Then I realised that how is this preference different to my sister’s refusal to even consider dating outside her race? Or my choosing not to date women as well as men?

I don't think there is a difference, it's all about choice!

I also would not refer to my heterosexuality or my sister's choice to only date black men as a "cultural fetish" or even a social one for that matter but that's just me

I think the difference is the inability to see the person on the inside. Comparisons to home and bi sexuality really don't apply in my opinion - I was referring to appearances - I still think it's shallow to base these types of choices on appearances alone. I prefer to date men - who I connect with on multiple levels....including but not limited to appearance. I would not, for example, agree to date a black man because he has a "thing" for white women....I am not a white woman I am a person

You too? It took mine seventeen years to make me drop the habit of splitting the forehead of the poo' suckah who said to me as much as "my, you look particularly... nice 'n' horny this afternoon."
