I dont have just ONE thing.

Obviously music makes me tick,

and God, and Boogie, and my Mingle family.

I dont think I would want to live without any of them.

Music::heart: :banana: :heart:

Its my mood moderator.

Its my time machine, and my talent.

God::angel:

Is the only father ive ever known.

And a huge source of love, strength, and power for me.

Boogie::heart:

Is my only child EVER, and I couldnt love her more if she was human.

Is my constant companion. We spend lots of time together.

Mingle2 Family:flowerforyou

The best family, and friends, ive ever known.

Has been to hell and back with me several times. And im not sure I would have made it back without them.

Writing, creating, that's what makes me tick.

I've pretty much given up on people entirely, so the goal now is to generate all of my "ticking" internally.

That was my starting point..learning how to generate my ticking internally because I had given up on people. I was unhappy on my own (not implying that you are). Unhappy with people/in a crowd...had no clue who I was and thought I needed other people to validate my existence..

Well, I've been completely alone for about 3 years now. You get used to it. Sure, there are times when it would be nice to have someone around, but then I think back to my past relationships and how horrible they all turned out to be, and I realize I'm better off by myself. Women don't want a guy who doesn't follow "the plan."

My last attempt to click with somebody was the final nail in the coffin, so to speak. I'm done.

As for validation, I figured out some time ago that trying to get it from other people was a losing proposition. I really don't think external validation means anything anyway -- other than that someone wants something from you.

That’s not true…I want a man that “doesn’t follow the plan” and I’m sure that there are plenty of other women ‘out there’ that do as well.

I also don’t relate single with being sent to Coventry as I would much rather be on my own and happy than with someone and miserable.

Like you, I also figured out that external validation in relation to your personal life isn’t worth anything as true acceptance can only be found from within.

One day, we can trade dating horror stories…I bet mine are worse :smile:

I've watched almost every pokemon episode and film known to man laugh.

Pizza...mmmmm drool

I believe there is a new pokemon movie coming to cartoon network soon, Victini is the star :D

I wonder if Victini likes Pizza too? happy laugh

There's three movies due out in line with the Pokemon black and white series. Two with Victini.

I have it on good authority that they only like pokemon food

I've had dozens of them SAY that to me. But it's never really the case -- this is just the way they've gotten me to believe that we're "compatible." I think, in the end, it's just biology. I don't have the same goals, the same "dream," that normal people have. Maybe it's the Asperger's, I don't know.

I also don’t relate single with being sent to Coventry as I would much rather be on my own and happy than with someone and miserable.

Absolutely, and this is why I feel OK about giving up on the whole relationship thing. I will have bad moments but there's really nothing I can do about it.

Like you, I also figured out that external validation in relation to your personal life isn’t worth anything as true acceptance can only be found from within.

Right, they are not me, they don't know what I've seen or done or where I've been and what I've dealt with. Their "opinions" can't really carry any weight because they have insufficient data. The only one who can validate me is me.

#1. The first girl I met on a dating site turned out to be an arsonist.

#2. After I separated from my ex-wife, her mother hired people to kill me. I was very lucky to have gotten through that little episode alive.

....and it gets worse....

Pretending to be a clock! There..I said it before anyone else did laugh. It’s better than ‘deep as an ocean’ which was the initial title I had for this thread :smile:

Anyway back to the less interesting bit...:smile:

As I go down my own road of self awareness, I’m finding that I’m done with superficial relationships. Obviously in work settings, I can be as pretentious as the next person but in my personal life.. my own little bubble.. I want and value people that take the time to get to know the real me. The person behind the big smile, GSOH, outgoing personality and so so good looks.

I want people in my life that will always be honest with me but without the cruel to be kind mentality that some people associate with honesty. I want people in my life that will give me advice based on their knowledge of me and not what they would do, sounds good or politically correct. I want people that will challenge me and take me out for drinks when I’m pissed off and leave me alone for long enough that I take real pleasure when I’m back in their company.

Having and maintaining these relationships is what makes me tick and keeps me sane.

What does it for you?
