Just in general. Freudian, Jungian....doesn't matter. Just somebody probing yr thoughts and analyzing them......

Seeing as how I studied psychology for 7 years, I may be a little biased....but YES!

No, seriously, I think it has its uses. I do think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations, though.

I'm aware of clinical applications, and it's prolly OK in that context. to me it's important to maintain my independent judgement. so would I listen, yes. would I accept or believe or change accordingly. maybe. if I felt it was in my best interests

I seldom take medical advice from the traditional western medical community

I had a friend who was seeing one.
I think my friend said, that the therapist had lost his marbles in Never Neverland....

I'm undergoing psychotherapy now. It's not the first time. It's interesting actually. I think it could be valuable to everybody in a way. You don't even have to have deep problems to benefit from it. Of course....it's people with deep problems that gravitate to it and benefit the most. I think just the term "psychotherapy" scares people away from it. I find the process fascinating.......

Well....I have been in therapy before...but the scary thing is everyone I knew in college who was a psychology major was majorly screwed up..............so yes, I have benefited from in situations but as my friend Jonathan calls it "mental masturbation" playing with ones own thoughts for just the pleasure of playing with ones own thoughts without cause is a little dangerous.

I agree...in a way. I'm guilty of that too. I think it's nice to have an un-biased opinion on how the mind works though. No matter what yr thoughts are, no matter how disturbing or bothersome....it's always good to have an un-objective opinion.......

Some folks really need the kind of insight a good therapist can provide. Sometimes it's nice just to be able to talk to somebody who can truly help you work things out.

And some folks are just nuts and need to be confined.

I think the mind is in control. So, for those who have minds that respond to psychotherapy,, its a good tool.

Otherwise, I find it a waste of money.

How cool. I had the coolest dream last night. I was riding on a train through the clouds and Boys to Men were serenading the passengers.

How would that 'translate'?
