So there comes a time we all have to finally breakdown and go get our license renewed or changed.
I went today due to I could not do it online this year since I have the last couple of years. Not only was I there two hours but had to hear a screaming kid as well... Do you have and horror stories when you had to go do this task? |

I just had mine recently renewed, it was only an hour wait, but quite comical, because they couldn't get the picture right on the guy that was ahead of me, well they finally got it and than had the same problem with me, it took three people to try to get the picture right.

My renewal took 10 minutes.
I planned for three hours so, I just took the rest of the day off and enjoyed the hell out of it. |

Haha they had to take mine three times But hey I passed the eye test with no reading glasses on and I'm blind as a bat reading things up close....lmao |

I never do mine online. I just plan on a couple of hours and "just do it." Besides, it is kind of interesting standing in a multi-cultural line and hearing anything but English.

Last time I went, it was to replace a license I lost. I've never had to replace a lost license before, so I figured it would be similar to the way I got my first license, minus the driving test (eye test, photo, fill out form). I got there before lunch (maybe around 11), and was there until they closed. They ended up locking the front door, and making the last of us go out the back door and walk around the building, so no new people would try to come in.
The worst part? They re-used my old picture (instead of taking a new one), and only had me fill out a form. I found out later I could have done the form online! It took over three months for them to send me my new license (with my old photo on it). Meanwhile, I couldn't cash a paycheck, deposit or withdraw money from my bank (I lost my bank card at the same time, which would have been fine if I had a picture ID), rent movies from blockbuster, or even get a library card (I had just moved to the area). I did eventually get my new bank card in the mail after a few weeks, which let me have access to my account again, but other then that, everything was on hold for lack of a picture ID. |

I guess I'm lucky as I've never had to wait long but they did blur my picture and when I said something about it, they said it would be ok..DUH! If I'm paying I want a nice pic!!!

Is there a AAA Club in Texas? There is one in CA called AAA Automobile Club of Southern CA and I get my renewals done there. It takes only10- 20 minutes and it is so pleasant.

The last time I went, I was really surprised that it only took about 20 minutes. The time before that I remember waiting hours.

I shall give you the method for passing a
driver's test in Oregon. It is all computerized now. And you must get a certain amount of questions RIGHT. But, as you take the test, you can 'skip' any questions you don't know the answer to and come back to them later. As soon as you get the required amount right, it passes you. So, always pass over iffy questions, in the hope you pass the test before they come back around. Works every time. Not that I want any of YOU on the same roads as me :-) |
