yeh, content. personally i have a great vocab but am a lousy lowsy lowsie (bad) speller. at times i dumb it down for fear of mis spelling.

Use a comma to separate the elements in a series (three or more things), including the last two. "He hit the ball, dropped the bat, and ran to first base." You may have learned that the comma before the "and" is unnecessary, which is fine if you're in control of things. Absolutely. There are certain styles, certain word formations and usages, that indelibly mark the person as a scammer.

And if they can't spell, or write coherently, this isn't someone I'm going to have a future with. Some people consider this harsh and judgmental, but they'll forget all about it once they find Prince Charming.

The way someone types when mailing me a message can tell me something about them. If they don't take the time to write something well with correct grammar and punctuation that would take ..oh I dont know 30 seconds, how do I know they will put in any effort at all with anything else they do?

I try to overlook most things. But, if I cannot understand what they're trying to say, I'm probably going to pass them over.

Have you ever seen an entire paragraph with no punctuation? Or every word in a sentence abbreviated? Sometimes people make it incredibly tough to read their writing. When using a site like this, where the written word is the first impression you give, I would think most would at least attempt to write reasonably well.

i don't think the written word is the first impression given. i see the profile picture (or lack of) as the first impression. some people don't use the forums, and put very little information on their profile. for the ones that do use the forums, i'm with soufie as to it being more about what they are trying to say. i will joke around when i see some post about "do you lick women with big hare". on the other hand i will be more serious if i see a post about "my dad dyed and i can't deal with it"
