opus no. 2
her make up, smeared
clothes, disheveled
in a pile upon the floor
the sheets
a heap
and scents of love making
still lingered in the air
what time is it?
the curtains drawn
no shadows cast
and the absolut
tasted bitter now
and stale
the half
burnt cigarette

opus no. 3
the birthday party
over the top
moon bounce
a big hit
moreso even for the grown ups
catered babysitter
presents wrapped by
fifth avenue's finest
nothing short of lobster
and caviar
for the kiddies
under the tents
within the white picket fence
night gave way to
stars and string lights
little feet all sent to slumber
three times a year
for much ado
hardly seemed
a bother

opus no. 5
grim is the reaper
knocking unexpectedly
for whom the bell tolls
no one ever listens quietly enough
in all the dirty deeds
the one that can put them there
is always within reach
if we just grab it
and hold on
she never thought
to look
to see
who it was
coming for

opus no. 1
fuschia with hints of daisies
lilacs fresh upon the senses
the breeze could not have been
more perfect
music and laughter
linen white and sunshine
butterflies and rainbows
happily ever afters
drifting through the summer air
buzz of well dressed children
one might even say
frolicking
grand
in every way
yet so tender and purposeful
this day
in sickness
and in health
till death
part us.

opus no. 4
he sat on the edge of the
too well made bed
staring out into the silence
of the walls
all the frozen memories
lingering on her smile
how the corners of her mouth...
and how her eyes
always lit up the....
and her laughter...
it all invaded him now
he fiddled with his wedding band
the missing
oh how he hoped she would
his silence
disrupted
by his tear
that landed on the bed
next to the watch
of his best man.
