I have a friendship that is very rare. This friend stands by me not matter what and is always there for me. I can talk to my friend about anything and he doesn't judge me. Unlike any man I have ever met; he accepts me for who I am, doesn't try to change me, not threatened by my independece, will listen to me without tuning me out, takes an actual interest in my military career as well as my music, volunteers to help me when I need a hand with renos, and worries about me when I am sick. Even when I was dating; guys never did any of these things or respected me for who I am. He truly is a gem of a friend and I feel so lucky to have him in my life.

Friendship has too many defs to get specific... but imho, it requires a certain sense of safety.
I can blather on in ways that others' might not respect... talk freely, see?

However... there's a new thing going on too... peeps to talk BS with... they can be friends too.
687 friends on facebook...? yeah, anyone of them will do, right?
They'll guide you into a sense of understanding yourself like... well, a fuggin "8-ball" that you might buy at Spencer's.

Or,
they could be your life line... a group of people that you've come to know and have trusted to share your true life story with.
Depends on how much energy that you choose to invest in them...

True friendship is unconditional. Anything else less than that is ********, then it isnt really friendship in the first place.

Friends are easier to maintain because they dont require the merging of lives,,,I can disagree with five or six things my friend does and it doesnt affect our friendship because what they do doesnt have the direct impact upon me that it would if we shared a life together...

oddly, my family are my friends,,,because I find it harder to meet adults with similar values whose company I can enjoy or whose character I trust,,,

A friend is one that does not judge you for your past and likes you for the person you are. They will be there for you when you need them the most and knows when it is time so step away to give you the time to think. They don't try to tell you how to live your life, but are there to help pick up the pieces if needed.

Friendship is someone you bumped into by pure coincidence. Had great laughs together, shared tough times shoulder to shoulder with, went ballistic on-or they on you, but you got past the apologies and moved on to the next day. A friend is someone that you'd throw down for in a New York minute if the **** hit the fan and you know that they'd do the same for you. Someone who's got your back and you theirs.

A friend is a friend when you don't have to think about what they'd think about you.
