A person's relationship partner should be thier number 1 priority. There are a few exceptions, sometimes work, school, or personal issues need to be dealt with first in order to maintain a healthy relationship. Your next move should include explaining that you should be #1 priority but you don't feel like you are getting it. At least give them a chance to realize it, sometimes we get a little side tracked without thinking about it. how you go about doing this depends on your personality. Some people like to put thier foot down, while others are more passive, it's up to you.

I find the question too vague. Maybe what you say you need would be considered unreasonable.

If I can't have the priority in the relationship I am in, I get out of it and find the next one that can give me that priority.

If I badly want the relationship and I can't get the priority I need, I adjust my priority.

Speaking for myself, I put myself before any relationship. The reason is because if I don't get the things I need, I have nothing to put into my relationships.

I put my job second. Without my job, I do not have the means to provide for my other relationships.

So, my woman is never going to be my top priority. I must put myself and my job above her to have the ability to maintain my relationship with her.

The question is...What are your expectations of his priorities? If you want to be before his job, family, etc then your priority needs to change. Especially if you are not married.
