O ye, of little faith

Meaning

This is the rebuke levelled at the disciples of Christ, when seeming to doubt his divinity. The phrase is also more widely used to describe any Christian doubter. In a secular setting it may be intended as a humorous jibe when doubting someone's abilities.

Origin

There are several places in the Bible in which this phrase is used with reference to those who demonstrate their lack of faith in Jesus' power to perform miracles. Here is an example from Miles Coverdale's Bible, 1535:

Luke 12:27 Considre the lilies vpo the felde, how they growe: they laboure not, they spynne not. But I saye vnto you: that euen Salomen in all his royalte was not clothed like one of these.
Luke 12:28 Wherfore yf God so cloth the grasse, yt is to daye in ye felde, and tomorow shalbe cast in to the fornace, how moch more shal he clothe you, o ye of litle faith?

In the 17th century, the people that we would now call atheists were called nullfidians. The state of insufficient faith was also of common enough interest to be given a name - petty fidianism. John Trapp, in his Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, 1647, recorded the term:

"O ye of little faith. Ye petty fidians; He calleth them not nullifidians."

Got Bible?

I think that is some interesting reading. All through the Bible God has constantly had to prove himself to us because of these unbelievers. Makes one consider if God was human couldn't he easy say, "Been there, Done that." Of course, for the unbeliever the point is moot. The unbeliever simply does not believe. God proved himself to me by his spirit. For it is the spirit of the law that is important and more important than the law itself.

Jesus said that it is the Spirit that quickens and the flesh profits nothing: the words that He speaks to us are spirit and life. John 6:63

The word “Quicken” is an obscure Biblical word, but without its power, our relationship with Him is limited to a dead language. The literal Greek meaning of the word quicken is to “make alive, give life or vitality.” (Strongs #2227)

Quickening is an experience that gives life,
but how do you describe life?
Quite inspired
Upbeat & alive
Invigorated & stirred
Changed & stimulated
Keenly vitalized
Energized & excited
Notably animated

King James Bible Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

The word quicken but the spirit maketh alive.

If you are questioning your faith in God, then pray to God for faith. Faith is not of your doing, it's a gift from God for seeking Him. Tell God your doubts and fears, treat Him as you would treat your father. God appreciates honesty and perseverance and rewards those who possess those qualities.

Jesus admonished the ones is robes in the Bible because they were looking for approval from man. We have to ask ourselves if we are looking for approval of man or the opposite sex or God. Being a Christian is not always the popular way for all.

solifidianism A person who believes that faith alone (as opposed to good deeds) brings salvation.

nullifidianism Of no faith; also, not trusting to faith for salvation.

The more I talk to God anymore, the more I think that maybe he isn't really there. I just don't know anymore.

I have no faith in man (and/or woman) and therefore seek no approval from man for anything. That's not what I'm talking about though.

A test maybe? Is there something that is keeping God from you?

I don't think it's a test. God knows my limits, I don't think he would push me this far unless he purposely wanted me to fail, if that's the case, the God of the Bible can not exist, therefore making anything of the Bible meaningless fable.

Of course there's a barrier of some sort. What it is, I don't know. I'm starting to think it may be that he's not there though, but there's also a part of me that thinks that can't be.

I just don't see how God can be loving and caring anymore. I can't just ignore things like how God can allow a wife to be beaten, children abused and neglected, unloved by their so called parents. How he can allow people who commit these things to get away with it and not stop them.

How can God, being as loving and caring as He supposed to be allow defenseless children to be tortured because it's someones will?

IDK, any reason for it just seems like excuses. If you can excuse God for not doing something, when He's the only one that can, you may as well just make excuses for those who rape, murder, and abuse their family. That's just how I have been feeling lately.

Yeah we all are sinners and everything, but those who are the cleanest get the most severe punishments?

God loves the sinner as much as a innocent. You see a terrible sin when you see a child being hurt, but God sees every sin as separation from Him and worthy of eternal punishment. If God punished the bad parents in this world, then to be just, God would have to punish the jaywalkers and the people with lustful hearts or children when they lie about getting a cookie before dinner. It's all explained in the parable of the prodigal son.

Isaiah 55:8-9
New International Version (NIV)
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

think what you want, believe what you want, you are not limited in your thoughts. toto, you can try to walk away from your faith, but your faith is much deeper than you imagine. just by posting this thread you in your heart of hearts know your faith is that of a mustard seed. if you lacked faith you would have gone without so much as a whisper. take the time you need to fathom how great a faith you have and then continue to be strong in your faith

TRUST! totage, don't throw away your faith.

If you believe nothing at all...believe this...
If you hold on, you will reap the rewards of your faith...

You must continue to trust God's wisdom..."lean not unto thine own understanding."

Keep looking unto Jesus,
the Author and Finisher of our faith.

It is a heavy thing
to see those who we care for go through painful experiences...

In the 11th & 12th chapters of Hebrews the writer reminds the people of faith
of the "great cloud of witnesses...before us...what they sometimes suffered and endured...
keeping their faith in the promises of God ever before them...

TRUST!

Don't faint at the things you see these days.
We were told ahead of time that evil in this world will get worse...

The godly shall suffer persecution.
We do daily. Mockings, scurgings, tortures...Some worse than others...I'm keeping it real, totage.

I believe in the Rapture of the Church, and the Resurrection...
but there is a chance that some of us may suffer extreme persecution before we leave this earth...
simply because of our faith in the True and living God.

Satan hates believers.

He wants you to accuse God of not caring and of not being true.

Satan is the accuser.
Satan is a liar.

Be prayerful my Brother!

The Father hears our faintest prayers.

He is very much acquainted with our griefs and sorrows.
When we hurt...... he does too.

But don't be discouraged.
He understands that our faith gets weak at times.

If our heart condemns us  , God is Greater than our hearts.

And Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

He is our strength.

Be of good cheer...
you are loved!
