MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin's Republican governor has won a major victory: the state Supreme Court says his polarizing union rights law can go into effect.

Gov. Scott Walker pushed the law that eliminates most of public employees' collective bargaining rights and forces them to pay more for their health and pension benefits. He says it's needed for the state to address its budget problems.

The law passed in March after weeks of protests that drew tens of thousands of people to the state Capitol. But the law has been tied up in the courts since a Democrat filed a lawsuit accusing Republicans of violating the state open meetings law during the run-up to passage.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court said the judge had no authority to interfere with the legislative process.

"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up."

-- by Martin Niemöller, prominent German anti-Nazi theologian and Lutheran pastor, best known as the author of the poem First they came....

Yup, isn't life grand?

They also will pass an imminent domain law that makes it easier for the state to take your property.

WELL I for one am not suprised that many on the right lack a basic understanding of History.

If the right were versed in history as it happened and not how they wished it happned they would be liberals.

If you are referring literally to the actual National Socialist German Workers Party brownshirts then I would be concerned.

That type of leftist/fascist style of government is pretty nasty..

As history has shown.

So you probably don't mean them. I doubt the American socialist types would be anti union..

What can I say refinanced the house at a fantastic rate and with mu union plus benefit I had no closeing cost.

I also get my mortgage paid for 6 months if injured our out on a legal strike all at no cost to me.

Chase bank by the way but most banks honor union members with these benefits.

I am glad Mr. Walker did this he has energised the fireman, policeman, librariens, nurses, sanitation workers and teachers, wow the list is pretty big of who has has ticked off. I expect to see them on election day.

I know the history of the Nazis and the part played by American and English leftists and progressives.

That is exactly why I will always stand against anyone that spouts the progressive rhetoric.

The 20th century and the 100 million dead will always serve as a historical reminder as to why Leftists should never be ignored.

French Partisans, WWII. The Polish Resistance WWII. And also how many armed citizens are out there still? And of them how many are former military?

Hell, if the UN tried to pull a military suppression here I would collect Blue Helmets. Oh but gun control is supposed to deal with that issue isn't it?

always entertained by such partisan mispeak when i think of many on the left, george wallace who saw history as white dominated, rosevelt who's administration developed the atomic bomb, truman who is the only human in history to command that it be dropped. a history we can all savor. there are easily as many history numbnuts on both sides of the isle.

I wonder if that is really true as only 12.4% of American workers are part of a union. Only time will tell.
