Tats, sexy or no?

What would you consider a tacky tattoo on a woman or a man?

Would you ever get a tat of a cartoon character or a Care Bear? (Saw one today)

Do you believe that you should only get ink done if you believe in what you are getting?

Or would you get it to "fit in" with a group?

How about the "played out" tattoos? Which tattoos are you tired of seeing on everybody?

I want a life sized tattoo of myself only bigger!

a friend of mine has a portrait of his child tatooed on his shoulder and is getting another one for his other child soon

they are very well done portraits and not at all stupid and neither is he. the tatoos are clearly acts of love from a dedicated father - who's intelligence should be apparent to anyone who speaks with him for a more than a few minutes

the only reason I don't have one is that I am afraid to get one

Tattoos are a very personal thing. It's not up to me to say what I'm tired of seeing on other people, as it's their choice what they're going to put on their body. I like hearing the stories behind them.

I've seen some badly done tattoos, though and they don't look good. But, like I said earlier, well done tattoos can be very sexy.

I love well-done tattoos that have meaning to the perso who has the tattoo... I like asking people about theirs. I don't have one because I am afraid of the needle. Simple as that.

So I love tattoos, just not on me.

Good tattoos are sexy, but there are people who have limited views and they do not like tattoos.

Jailhouse looking tatts on guys or girls look tacky IMO...

I have Yosamite Sam riding a Harley sign on my calf but a Care Bear would be a girlie tattoo.

Tattoos are not for everyone but if you have them then it should be an expression of yourself.

Getting tattoos is about being an individual so if you are doing it just to fit in then it is the wrong reasons and you might get something that you regret later.

Tattoos I do not understand are the ones in a foreign language, most of the time they do not translate how you think they do because of the different dialects in languages. When I lived in Korea I almost got one that was suppose to say something about the lone wolf hunting at night, but I started asking people I trusted and they told me that in some areas they might read is as I "liked" wolves in the night and I go looking for them...lol. Even in the States here a phrase from up north might not mean the same as down South...

So what you are saying is that because I simply don't like tattoos, I have a "limited view?"

Depends on if you judge the person because they have tattoos or not. I accept that not everyone likes tattoos so not everyone should get them, so why can people without tattoos accept people with tattoos? I have not seen you have not jumped on the tattoos are bad bandwagon yet so I can not say one way or the other with you...

I agree with singme here! I love great artwork. All of my tattoos are memorials for me and are a great part of who I am. They were all also healing experiences in dealing with the emotional pain of said losses! They are beautiful scars and each tattoo symbolizes my ability to let go of pain and allow myself to heal.

For those that don't like them...quit looking at them...LOL! laugh

I see. Well, I personally don't like them at all. But to each his/her own.

i like some tattoos but like others have said, it doesnt need to be done to "fit in" because its YOU that has to live with it, i have 3, but not seen unless i want them to be, i have a mickey mouse, a rose, and a heart with my oldest sons name in it... i want 2 more and they will be two attached hearts under my oldests with my twins names .. ive had mine for 18 yrs and i dont regret any of them but those are all i want, now the tattoos above the neck i really dont like but thats me, ive seen them done to eyes, inside lips and eye lids.. but im not the one that has to live with it.. sooo to each their own! flowerforyou

i think that a person's tat should have significant meaning to that person. everyone else be damned.

the ones i hate are the ones that young people get just to be able to say they got a tat. also the ones that people get in places that are obscured. if they're ashamed of their tat to the point that they don't want anyone to see it, they shouldn't have gotten it. IMO
i have 2 tats, one on each inner forearm. both are high enough up on my arm that they can be covered with a long sleeved shirt if need be for formal occasions, but most of the time they are out in plain sight.

i will admit that i'm still a fan of the "tramp stamp". not sure why, but something about it gets my mind all messed up.
