Topic: 2 billion people watching this wedding. Why? | |
---|---|
2 billion people ( so it was said on PBS) are watching the Royal Wedding. Why must it be shown worldwide on every news channel we click on?
Have we forgotten the history and idea of Monarchy and what it had done to many countries around the world? I am just curious to know why you are so interested? Is it because of the cute couple? Is it because of who are attending the wedding such as stars and popular personalities? Is it because you truly believe the world should see it on every news channel you click on? Thank you for your explanations! By the way I personally am neither for or against it. It matters not to me, but I am curious to know why it is for you or isn't important to watch this event. |

1 billion of the people watching will be men, and they are all watching in case Kate Middleton has a bit of a nipple slip.
The other 1 billion are hoping to see a terrorist attack live on tv. |

It seems that we get fed what they(the media) think we want to see, i am scottish,we,ve been joined to this uk since 1707 ,in my heart they are not my royals, i don't have ill feeling towards them,

That's why I don't watch the news. Stupid liberal media is a waste of brain matter.

I think people watch it as escapism. They like the romantic view of the royals. I have have nothing against the couple I personally didn't mind if they didn't ram it down our throats so hard. O well, at least its not MWW, how facebook is killing children, or the latest panic trend.

The same reason they watch American Idol, Survivor and other rubbish! I'm saving my tv time for the shuttle launch! |

While I wasn't really into the wedding stuff, it was a nice change to all the doom and gloom all over the tv for once. If you didn't like watching it, turn it off?

I do find it funny that Hussein wasn't invited. Guess the happy couple didn't want an iPod with his speeches on it lol |

I watched because I wanted to see her gown and I wanted to see Diana's son, whom we have watched grow up, get married. Not to mention the romance of weddings.

For me, because I still have hope....
because they can use the incredible wealth and power they wield over every country in their Commonwealth for good....for the people. There is something quite wonderful in witnessing a young couple move into an expected outcome (marriage and children)...their way...in direct contrast to William's mother and father..who had The Firm manage every aspect of their marriage and lives. Elizabeth is my Queen...I like having the Monarchy there...as a backup to our governing...we get it wrong with our government...and the Governor General, acting on the Queen's decision, can sack our government.. it's like hitting a reset switch... and the Monarchy is what stops us ever having a Dictator as a leader. |
