how often do you check out people's profiles? I often have the urge to check out people who are totally inappropriate for a date. I know that it will not offend anybody, yet, in the back of my mind, I have the fear that some 30-something cutie-pie is going to be thinking, "Why is this dirty old man checking me out? What is he thinking"? Is this fear unique to me?

I only check out profiles if they have viewed mine, given me a nudge, want to chat or emails me. Other than that I will check out someone if they have said something on a forum, that I find strange. It's a public site. I never worry what they might think.

well, I recently looked at a profile and sent her a little message to the effect, "I'm not hitting on you. You're cuter than a bucket-o-puppies and I had to get a better look at you. Ciao." She wrote me a very sweet and cute message back.
I guess my question is better put, what do you think when you get a view from somebody who you would never consider dating? |

I don't really ever look at any profiles.
sometimes I randomly will. but it's very rare. and I'm the type of person who wonders wtf are you doing looking at my profile. it's creepy when they do it more than once. |

Art, I've felt the same thing at times. If I think confusion might ensue, I just send her a quick message letting her know the real reason. For instance:
"I came across some of your Forum posts. Sometimes I just like to know more about the people I interact with there. I hope you do not get the wrong impression.  "
By coming forth to avoid confusion, they are usually understanding and thank me for letting them know. |

I don't know about "stealth". Where do I find that button? So, all those young hotties out there who are creeped out attention from us pervs could be getting all kinds of attention without even knowing it?

I don't know about "stealth". Where do I find that button? So, all those young hotties out there who are creeped out attention from us pervs could be getting all kinds of attention without even knowing it? Stealth is part of your settings, on the my account page. You can turn it on, and it will not show when you check out someones profile. Persoanlly I check profiles fo people from teh forums before I make comments if I don;t know them. And on a personal note, I have had my profile checked out by all kinds, and ages. I figure something attracted them to look, and just take it as a compliment or they were curious about something I wrote in the forums. |
