Hmmmm i have only met one person, and firstly i mucked around on here, then messaged, then phoned, then we skyped so i could see him in person and his family, then I went and met him.

On skype, i could see what he looked like, and watch him in person, it showed me pretty much what he was like, especially when you spend a lot of time on there.

Ive met a load of people from online and pretty much everyone looked like the photos they had posted.

That being said, i know there are a lot of people that do post misleading or fake pictures.

My advise to anyone that is becoming in any way romantically involved with somebody is to 1) talk to the person on the phone and 2) see the person on web cam. If the person doesnt have a web cam, you can always offer to buy them one, they are cheap enough. Otherwsie dont risk getting involved further.

Has anyone actually met anyone offline? I have a few war stories I could share alone. How about you?

YES! I've met several people from this site and others. All were as they portrayed themselves to be...only better.

Webcam is the way to go if you do not live close enough for quick in-person meet.

There is no excuse to stand someone up. If they don't look like their picture or you don't like them, drink your cup of coffee, have a polite conversation and excuse yourself. Whether it's because they lied about themselves or you are just not attracted....it doesn't matter. If there is no connection you can't force it. No biggie. But, don't stand people up.

well i've had my share of coffee or beer and polite conversation. the bigger women tend to post pictures of themselves in high school. it's funny to me (afterwards) because i think to myself, did she really think i wouldn't notice the extra 200 pounds. thing is it wasn't the weight difference that turned me off (some were really nice), it was the deceitfulness

I wasn't disagreeing that people lie about themselves. Believe me, I KNOW they do. I was only suggesting that it's still wrong to stand people up. If you want to, go ahead. I just wouldn't do it.

However, once you get there, if they have grossly misrepresented themselves, you are free to smack them upside the head and leave them to pay the check.

my problem with a webcam is that they are associated with activity that I do not participate in, and I just won't even go there...so fortunately ur already taken Dansad

I will send extra pictures even though I don't have many as I have 15 on my profile - it's the profiles with 1 or 2 pictures and u can't see the person clearly that I'd be skeptical of

I guess since my first experiences with webcam were with my mom and sister, I feel okay about it. But, yes, some do think that webcamming means sex. That's why it's so nice to be able to instantly turn it off.

What you do is..show up at a spot you both agreed upon and instead of waiting for her at the spot, go a little farther away and wait until she shows up and watch her with binoculars.
If she isn't anything like her picture or described herself, then don't attempt to make a contact, just stay away until she gives up and leaves. drinker
So what happens when you both use the binocular idea there? Do you just look for the other person with binoculars watching where you were suppose to meet?...lol

that would be the funniest thing ever. Looking at each other with binoculars.

IDK Atlantis that sounds pretty immature & stupid to me -not YOU, just the suggestion

this is also why I always meet inside the place too - their will be no scoping from the parking lot - from now on I'll add a hat & sunglasseslaugh

seriously I have met people who didn't look like their pictures and we just remained friends - nothing wrong with that

I actaully look better than most of my photos - usually- so your little plan could also backfire with a really cute chick if she was onto u

and we aren't stupid
