Is Toshiba a good name in laptops? I saw one listed in Consumers Guide for around $470 but then I saw this one in Walmart...

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-C655D-S5130/15642036 and was wondering if it is a decent deal...

I've compared it to some others but I was wondering if they are a decent computer. My daughter bought a netbook and the thing crashed within a few months.

I thought you were comparing the two Toshibas.

Check consumer reports. I'm sure they have a web site.

Toshiba is the worst computer I ever had. I bought one, and returned it within a few hours it was so horrible. I'll never touch another one.

Also, Wal Mart is not a good place to buy a computer. Every computer I bought from them had problems. Try Best Buy, or some place that speclaizes in computers/electronics. Trust me.

Asus are awesome computers. Try them. Alienware and Dells are good too. Alienware is more for gaming though.

Don't buy technology from walmart. I worked in manufacturing..people think its all the same but different customers get different levels of quality.

To be honest, all laptops are generally made the same. The resellers take the same parts from overseas, slap their name on it, and call it their own product. The main thing you need to look for when buying a laptop is the warranty. Dell has the best warranty with the biggest price.

Also.. if you buy from BestBuy, which is going to insanely overcharge you, make sure you get the accidental protection plan. This way, right before the warranty goes out, you simply destroy the laptop and take it in and get a brand new one. Works every time.

I bought a new Acer laptop at Staples and it was under $400. I love it! It is perfect for my needs.

I used to think Acer was top of the line until I bought a few. They didn't last much over a year. Asus is a much better buy.

The netbook my daughter got was an Acer, it lasted four months and now we can't get it to sign either of us into Windows. I have to take it somewhere to get checked out.

I had the same problem with my old Dell laptop and I was told it was a virus that would have cost more for me to fix than the old Dell was worth. Now, I am very careful what sites I go on. I like the new McAfee because it lets me know what sites they have tested and I stick to those sites. Unfortunately, there are a lot of viruses being made.

Netbooks make great paperweights. LOL, that's about all they're good for really. You're better off buying a regular laptop. You can get a cheap laptop for about the same price as a netbook.

I bought both of my computers from Walmart. I have had no problem with either of them. The big box stores(Best Buy,Etc,) always want to sell you stuff you don't need. I don't buy from places like that. I will find what I need at Walmart and be done with it.
