The R1 is a nice bike, but for your first crotch rocket I would go a little smaller, at least an older R6. I started out on dirt bikes myself, crotch rocket was fun but not as fun as a dirt bike, my compromise was a Honda XR650L that I set up for Supermoto. That was a fun bike! Too many idiots are on crotch rockets and you get lumped in to their group, I like being a little different...

I used to have a 1959 Cushman scooter. I found that it only had front wheel brakes on a gravel road.
http://www.cushmanclubofamerica.com/buyselltrade/cforsale.html They do qualify for crotch rockets. |

I thought the topic said "couch rocket." Now I see why it wasn't in "Intimacy & Sex."

I started out with dirt bikes, gradually worked up to bigger and bigger Jap bikes, got a Triumph 650, finally ended up a a Custom Harley then hopped it up substantially.
A guy offered me a ride on his big crotch rocket. I put the front wheel in the air and rode it a bit and thought, "God this thing is uncomfortable!". I hopped on mine yesterday and went to the coast. Nothing but smiles. |

I am kinda worried about being uncomfortable is my only thing
i think riding a dirt bike is uncomfortable |

My butt had about a 250 mile limit until I got a seat made by "Mustang".
Initially, they feel hard and you don't think they are going to be that comfortable, but you ride on one for hours and get off feeling like you never sat down. Harley seats are NOT like that. |

Thinking about buying one I also rode dirt bikes my entire teenage life, so by the time it came to a street bike I knew what it was that I wanted. Now for riding a dirt bike as long as you have is a good thing but a street bike is a different animal. What you need to do is ask yourself what kind of riding you want to do. You talk about comfort..... a sport bike was never designed for comfort. Also I agree to not go big for your first bike, down size for a season or two then trade up. Once you figure out what you want out of a bike then you'll know what to look for. |

I thought the topic said "couch rocket." Now I see why it wasn't in "Intimacy & Sex." Ha! It said "crouch rocket". Being in Travel & Transportation, I kinda thought it was going to be about a bad gastric experience abroad, squatting in some bushes. Me and my dang skoolin. |

Thinking about buying one what ya got lets see pics ? i wouldn't recommend one if you like to ride for long periods. unless you're short. i'm 6'2" and took a 4 hour ride one time. my ankles and wrists hurt for 3 weeks afterward. other than that they can be a lot of fun. if it's your first you might want to start small. . . . |
