Topic: is it too much to ask? (rant)

if you get your car serviced, do you expect the mechanic to add some oil, check three out of four tires for correct pressure, or do you expect perfection. this was a big event that lots of people paid to see, and she SEEMED unprepared.(she did make sure the show went on and sang beautifully)

that is why he is ranting...that alot of people paid to see...and paid alot

And in response to comparing an auto mechanic and a singer doesn't really work. Messing up a line in a song isn't going to mess up your car.

it's the fact that you pay for a service, if the service is poor, you get a refund, even if it is only a discount or partial refund

They paid for a football game. Do they get a refund if their team messes up and does poorly?

if the GAME gets rained out or cancelled, not if their team loses

I must be the only one who is already tired of this topic. Though, I'm sure some other celebrity will mess something up and people will forget about this quickly.

ya I think it's a pretty small thing to get that worked up about too, so ur not alone singme

life's too short...slaphead

remember the Murphy's Law of criticism is that as soon as one busts a blood vessel criticizing another they go and do something monumentally dumm them selves:laughing:

Is it?

I mean, it is our NATIONAL ANTHEM for christ’s sake!

I guess being a professional singer and all; it was a bit much too actually expect her to know ALL of the words. I have never been a fan of christina aguilera (in the past) and you can bet that dreadful performance hasn’t created a desire for me to rush out and purchase any of her cd’s. I can only hope the people that shell out their hard earned money to see her live are not treated to the same level of proficiency…

The shame of the matter is that she is quite a gifted vocalist, too bad she is so convinced of this that she thought it better to use her time on more important things, rather that learning and/or practicing the star spangled banner.

It’s not like they signed her to perform on the day before the super bowl. She has had literally months to prepare. Knowing one was about to sing in front of one hundred thousand people attending the game and millions upon millions watching on television, I would have expected more from a so-called pro. What a disgrace!

Perhaps next year they should give the honor to an illegal alien...and if he/she gets it right, they earn citizenship. Come to think of it, maybe we should deport all of those that botch it as their penalty, starting with her!

Bad post toasties day here?

Lots of folks have messed it up. It seems to be pretty common.

I wouldn't get panties in a bunch over it myself though.flowerforyou

HA!

Ain't no way it could be worse than the singer from Pearl Jam massacreing it before a NASCAR race a couple of years back.....THAT was a vocal abortion gone bad!

Assuming at least some of you read, do you not voice your opinion on the works? Have you never openly criticized the food you were given at a restaurant? How about the service? Have you ever in your life, seen a movie that you would not recommend and subsequently, given a poor review? How about the political arena, ever speak out against the policies of anyone?

Yes, I criticized her performance, she is the one that gave it and to me, it was inexcusable. That is my opinion, I do notice however, that some are quick to “condemn” me for having one and then attempt to draw an absurd correlation between, my learning from my own errors and voicing my opinion in this thread. Or, as what seems to be a common dismissal, “she is not the only one to have made this mistake”….how would that go over in your house if one of your children failed a math final and explained to you that it was a difficult exam and 5 others also messed it up?

You see, both prior to and during the game fox tv took the time to point out that this is not just a day to celebrate football, but also a day to honor America. They did so in many ways; her contribution was to present, not just to a national audience, but the entire world, her rendition of OUR anthem. (Not “its”, as she later put it.) She delivered a sub-par performance anyway you care to slice it. I find it interesting that pointing this out has offended more of you than the actual performance…

As to the notion that I wouldn’t appreciate or welcome criticism aimed at me, well you couldn’t be more wrong. I openly welcome, ask, seek and attempt to learn from it. I do so on this site and a couple of others. If you have any doubts to that, her you go, have a field day. http://mingle2.com/topic/show/95989

I don't think anybody was criticizing brother just saying what they feel. I do think it is funny that fox was being so patriotic and at the same time as part of this God bless America theme was the interview by Bill O'Reilly of our president. That was the rudest chit I have ever seen. Just my opinion of course.......smokin

To me the National Anthem is more than just a song. The hard part of this song would be the range of notes, not the words. I learned this song in elementary song laugh I didn't have a good singing voice then

But can someone please tell me what this is supposed to mean???

“What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.”

I like her voice. I missed the game (even though it was in my home town lol

she sang the above instead of “O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming,”

I'm trying to figure out what she sang meant laugh

It was'nt just one word. there were several 'hunrrrrgr-ah' words stuck in there as well as almost words.

More people watched the Superbowl this year than all of the other major sports championship games/finals combined including college.

Epic Fail on a Major Stage.

It wasn't Dallas that did it. The stadium is in Arlington...and yeah they screwed up. I don't know what happened there. I know they were working like crazy because of the ice and traffic. And I think it would the the association that screwed that up...right?

yeah people in Arlington don't associate the city with Dallas. We associate it with Ft Worth. laugh

The seating problem (from what I understand from local news) was something about temporary seating and stands that had safety problems and the seating contractor walked off the job. That's my understanding at least....I could be wrong

sorry about the fantasy. I swear I told everyone in the forums and everywhere that the pictures was just an avatar and not me laugh
