yes they do and i have the right to b!tch about it whenever i feel like it. just as you do to "move on with our night".

there is something bigger here than simply messing up a few words to some insignificant song, too bad not all people can comprehend that.

I honestly think people are overreacting. It wasn't some conspiracy to offend everyone. It was someone who messed up the song.

In some countries you can be punished for disrespecting a custom.

Messing up our own country's National Anthem on a broadcast shown all over the world, just shows a lack of respect even for our own traditions and ourselves. People have every right to be upset about this.

I also have had enough of reading the comments like 'Stupid Americans can't even get their own song right'.

OK OK I'm going to defend her. I have performed before. This was a huge event and she simply muffed a line. She kept her composure and her performance and voice and interpretation were very nice and strong otherwise.

I think everybody ought to just cut her a break. I totally believe she knows the Banner and just had a minor slip up.

She is a great artist and does not deserve extensive derision. We are all human and sometimes we just make a mistake.

I'm sorry for what happened to him, but Christina messing up a line of the national anthem did not do that to him. She sang a song that's hard to sing, overdid it trying to put her own style into it, and messed it up.

By virtue of being a performer, whether an actor, writer, singer…ect. you open yourself to public scrutiny. The best way to avoid negative criticism would be to prepare yourself for each and every performance. Still, you will not please everyone, but when you enter a stage, such as we saw yesterday, you had better be on your game.

I don’t feel like she needs anyone to defend her. I am more of the belief that if you don’t like being judged by your performance, perhaps you are in the wrong line of work. The public eye can be a tough one. especially if one fails to own up to a poor job.

While I'm sure every performer would love to be perfect every time, it just doesn't happen that way.

not saying she is responsible for him, what i am suggesting is that you go tell him how people are overreacting to this. it is from the sacrifices he and thousands and thousands of others just like him have made that you and i have the ability to debate this.

i don't care that you don't get it, since this is a tired topic for you, but a lot of men in my family have died giving you the right to use your voice and i think it is a shame that she didn't take her opportunity more seriously.

what does that have to do with this?

why should this statement release her from criticism?

Well, you're welcome to your opinion, just as I'm welcome to mine. I think that most are overreacting. It has nothing to do with soldiers sacrificing their lives for it. She sang the national anthem at the Superbowl badly. That's it.

I'm not saying it should. I was just replying to your post, as you can see. It would be great if every performer could be perfect all the time, but it just doesn't happen. You can judge all you want, but it's not going to change anything.

i guess the topic title should have excluded the brackets (rant) so that others would realize this thread was specifically started to blow off steam
