Is it?

I mean, it is our NATIONAL ANTHEM for christ’s sake!

I guess being a professional singer and all; it was a bit much too actually expect her to know ALL of the words. I have never been a fan of christina aguilera (in the past) and you can bet that dreadful performance hasn’t created a desire for me to rush out and purchase any of her cd’s. I can only hope the people that shell out their hard earned money to see her live are not treated to the same level of proficiency…

The shame of the matter is that she is quite a gifted vocalist, too bad she is so convinced of this that she thought it better to use her time on more important things, rather that learning and/or practicing the star spangled banner.

It’s not like they signed her to perform on the day before the super bowl. She has had literally months to prepare. Knowing one was about to sing in front of one hundred thousand people attending the game and millions upon millions watching on television, I would have expected more from a so-called pro. What a disgrace!

Perhaps next year they should give the honor to an illegal alien...and if he/she gets it right, they earn citizenship. Come to think of it, maybe we should deport all of those that botch it as their penalty, starting with her!

nah....my bp is right where it's supposed to be...i bet though, if it were a song about partying and or sexual acts, she would have gotten all of the words right.

They had this posted in that site:

Update: Christina Aguilera issued the following statement in response to the uproar: "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."

She had to go and Jazz up The National Anthem. That never turns out well.

Years back when Garth Brooks sang it, he sang it perfectly and without any Country Style. You would think that these other so called professionals could get it together and just sing it right.

I was teary eyed after the reading of the Declaration of Independance. She was a mood killer for sure.

I watched it...listened...had to cover my face. And no music. You can really catch the mistake.

i love it when people make a mockery of something and then tell you how to interpret it...i guess we can expect her to announce a few free concerts for the men and women serving in our armed forces, just to prove her statement to be true.

The only true spirit she showed me was a failed attempt to make the anthem sound like a song from Burlesque.

I must be the only one who is already tired of this topic. Though, I'm sure some other celebrity will mess something up and people will forget about this quickly.

i'm sure the 11 people from my family that have given their lives for this country are tired of this topic by now as well. (after all it has been an entire day) i guess i owe you, and them an apology.

Unfortunately, people sing the national anthem horribly a lot. That's what they get for having pop/country/whatever singers do this kind of stuff. I went to a MD basketball game over the weekend and they have music majors singing the national anthem and always sound good.

Seriously though, when we watched the game on Sunday, everyone said "oh, she messed up!" then moved on with our night.

Honestly I don't watch Football but I do watch the Super Bowls.....Mainly for the commercials and half time...

It is a shame that a singer that is given the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at that time did not take the time to prepare for the song.

It is one she will not live down for a while. I will admit she has a good voice but was totally unprepared even though she had known months ahead that she was going to preform.slaphead

Honestly I did not care for the Black Eyed Peas either but then it is not the kind of music I listen too.

I would have rather seen either country due to it was in Texas or some good ole Rock n Roll instead....JMO...whoa

But then she has not been the first one to mess it up and surely will not be the last....
