I believe our veterans and servicepeople should have their own thread where they can share their own stories, reveal historical tidbits, and refect upon their service. They can even speak of the places they have been to give our civilian population a chance to see the value of this part of life. I feel this is so important and even shed some light on those who were wounded or even those who were POWS and MIAS. These folks should never be forgotten EVER!!!

when i first read this, i was excited. thing is i was really hoping that this thread would stay on topic and away from controversy. i know there are alot of people out there who are against war, and or military actions, but this thread is not the place to bring that up. alot of people inlist in the military WILLINGLY, and are willing to lay down their life for what others believe in. military life is not for everyone. all i ask is for this thread to stay on topic, and be about honoring those who serve, or for those who have served to feel like they have a place where they can call home. thank you all

When I began this thread, I was hoping that this would be a place where our military(past as well as present) would be looked upon with honor and distinction. I did not mean for it to offend anyone. Our men and women put there lives on the line to protect us irregardless of their views or even where they came from. Past folks have given their lives on nameless shores and seas so that we too could live with honor and distinction(if that would be our chosen path). Let keep this thread alive to support our brave men and women as they continue to put their lives on the line and honor those who have served. And remember that some of us where not put in the military by choice. Some even had to go or face jail time in my era. Let us keep this thread alive for all of the right reasons. Thank you.

I have at this time deleted several post. If your post was deleted along with others it was most likely due to it pertained to post that had to be deleted.

This thread is dedicated to the Military Only! This is not a place for anyone to protest what Our Military Troops are doing but a place to Honor those that have Served their time or Serving their time...

If you feel the need to go off Topic then I suggest that you create your own thread and do so there!!

The site gives all members the opportunity to voice their opinion as long as it does not offend others. Therefore the least members can do is give each other this same Respect within the threads.

Please go back to the Topic being discussed........

This was my reason for doing this. I am the one that started this in homage to our military past and present. I am former military and wanted to honor my brothers and sisters who are serving now and who have served.

My funniest military memory? Has to be when in the Phillipines when I got on this bus called a "Victory Liner" I know the jig was up when they had live animals on the bus and a pig was rubbing my leg trying to get in my lap....... Geez!!

There are many men & women that have served this country. They volunteered to do this on their own the least we can do is Respect their choices and stand behind them for what they gave. Many gave with their lives which is something we should never forget...........

My dad while in Korea drove the Ambulance he had told us that he had made it through his first term without a scratch... Then during his second tour there he was on Ambulance duty again. When all of a sudden they were in the line of fire. As he was trying to get out of the way and in the Ambulance he felt a sting to his azz as if someone had slapped him. Well needless to say he got in just in time took a shot to his rear... but lived to tell his tale....... whoa   slaphead

His only wish was to be buried near the American Flag.......His wish was granted he is buried within 30ft of a 200ft pole that flies the American Flag daily..... flowerforyou

I have had all my family members in the Military. And at 53 I am now myself as a senior member in the Civl Air Patrol Program! This program is run by the Air force for kids 12 to 21. Excellent program! And they are always looking for retired personnel to sign up to help these kids! So if you are ex military and want to continue being part of the service do it this way. Just type in Civil Air Patrol in your search. My grandson has been in it for a year and it has changed his life completely, as before he was a problem child. To join this program you could of been in any branch of service.

I served. USN USS AMERICA CV-66 A.B.E.

Drydocked, Norfolk Va. ( the carrier was docked 6 years)

Became a hell of a janitor!

Ahhhhh the things that they never showed on Top Gun......

(actually, I never saw the movie but, I am fairly certain that they didn't show the guys in prison issue dungarees mopping the same damned deck for 6 years)

Thankful for the guys and dolls who served. Wish my enlistment rendered more than ninja jedi janitor status and more drugs than I have ever seen in my life but, we don't get to choose our orders.

Wow, you got to use a mop? We were on hands and knees washing the deck but luckily our ships were a heck of a lot smaller than the American ships. LOL

What kinda barge Girl? I was on an Aircraft carrier. 187 jets and 5,000+ guys..in its time, it was the big one. Then the Reagan docked next to us and was about 300' longer. I heard the Kennedy was insanely big.
