Yeah good idea
I haven't served, a military brat as they called us, don't know why. During nam my Father was in Tialand fixing up the planes that got shot up. My Brother was in nam at the same time and my cousin was a scarey time in history. They all came back safe but as for my brother and cousin things still haunt them to this day. My brother sure is thick with his Vet buddies. He now lives in the county and likes staying away from people PTSD. No war like it since. Wish there didn't have to be any Imagine. But the reality of life is there and we have to protect our interest. Many nations would like to see America fallen. XOXOXOXOXO Thank you all that serve |

Coming back into the states from Hawaii into San Francisco airport. A woman with a baby toss the baby's wet diaper into my face. Welcomed back baby killer, was the words from her mouth. It was a different time. Today people thank service personnel for their service. |

Different climate today for sure. Indeed sir. The world is a different time, the early 70's was the peace and love. Strange that the love was never shown to the service people. That had their lives in conflict, needed a thank you. Instead of the hate. |

That would be great but you had to wear the uniform coming back from a de-briefing. Then your flight was directly after your briefing. The sad part was I came home to be happy. Instead...

Glad the people of the USA have come to honor those who's life is in harms way. I live in Colorado Springs, with the military here, I give you my word that I welcomed home the men and women. When I can afford it I will get them a drink. If not I will give them my hand and a thank you. |

My father was a paratrooper with the 511th Airborne. As a field commissioned officer, he helped to lead a jump into a POW camp, Los Banos Prison, south of Manila and they were able to get over 2100 people out without any fatalities. Its written up as the best jump ever by the paratroopers.. Before they took the camp, they took over an airport..some of my fathers close friends were injured and not able to continue to the camp.. I have a letter from a priest that was in the camp, written to my Mom, telling her all about what happened..My nephew just recently attended a reunion and was able to meet several of the men that participated in that jump.. Only 10 left. My brother served in Nam and my youngest daughter server 12 yrs in the Navy during Desert Storm... Bless all of those who have served or are serving today... I always approach a soldier and thank him for serving.. They really do appreciate being told....

My Dad served two tours in the Army he served in Korea. He was one of the proudest men I know to have served for this country.
Not only that he was the first one of our generation after my grandfather migrated from Germany to serve within the military. My brother was in the military as well but choose the Marine Core.... have a nephew that just recently served his time within the Marines as well..... Here is to all those that serve this country..... Be proud of who you are and what you have done....Our Freedom counted on you.... Comments - Graphics |

Sort of made me fall in love with it. Good to also hear it from a living, breathing person. I think one of my favorite was about these men that escaped from a prison in Amiens, France. A boof was made of it, as well as a movie and a documentary. Thanks for sharing!! Thank your people for their service!!! They are and always will be "trailblazers" in my book. Their service enabled the rest of us to serve!!!!! |

Different climate today for sure. Was on a charter flight to Anchorage Alaska on the way to Iwakuni, Japan. People told us to stay out of the public eye because we were in uniform. Will never forget flying into Aurora Borealis(Northern Lights)leaving Alaska. Most beautiful and powerful memory for me!!!! |

In WW2 my Dad had to lie about his age to get into the Navy. He served in the South Pacific.

I believe our veterans and servicepeople should have their own thread where they can share their own stories, reveal historical tidbits, and refect upon their service. They can even speak of the places they have been to give our civilian population a chance to see the value of this part of life. I feel this is so important and even shed some light on those who were wounded or even those who were POWS and MIAS. These folks should never be forgotten EVER!!! I agree as I would love to share some of my stories there. |

This is why digital cameras were invented and I wish I had one then along with Photoshop. My goodness what I could have done with those pictures!!! |
