Topic: Self confidence; where does it come from? | |
---|---|
I have been having a lengthy discussion with a friend of mine regarding self confidence, or a lack of it.
We agreed that the best (and only?) way to attract other people is to be confident. But what if someone lacks self confidence? Even if they're aware that they lack it? So my question to you good people out there is; *Where do you get confidence from??* I look foreward to hearing your thoughts on the matter, from men and women. Thanks |

from trying and succeeding
and from support and encouragement its hard to build confidence with no efforts, but its also hard to maintain confidence through failure or disappointment there is no easy answer, I think it starts as a child with your environment but if it hasnt developed once you are 'grown', Im not sure where to start building it , except to start trying to LIVE and ACHIEVE and face your fears of failing |

You get confidence from loving yourself, knowing that if someone gets to know you they would be blown away with how great you are..
Confidence is very sexy...its powerful... |

Education and experience sir. So much is available on the internet on the more 'sensitive topics' which I suspect is your inspiration. And know that your fine manners are an excellent trait. Know what you can offer. Know that it is valuable. oh yes,, MANNERS,,,what a lost art that is becoming and quite an asset by extension |

From the depths of your loins my brethren that's where my confidence comes from

Thanks walmart? seriously - from inside urself and having a supportive environment only helps, from accomplishing things, even small things, from loving and being loved. the confidence to win or admit defeat, the confidence to be right or to be wrong. the confidence to succeed, and to fail- at least u tried! the confidence to just keep at it till u get it right and when you do? now there's a boost! |

I'll tell you one thing... If you can't find confidence in yourself, don't fake it. Women see right through a fake than they do someone that's not confident. Lying is way more a turn-off than lacking confidence. Just be yourself. Once you're comfortable in being yourself... You'll be more confident. Also, Overly confident is bad too. That's being cocky. Only the wrong kind of women like that.

For me...I got it from my upbringing....
But, my Dad was a Kung Fu Pimp Disco Biker so I had a good example of self-confidence. |

Mine comes from my realistic assessment of my own strengths and weaknesses, knowing what what I'm good at and knowing what I need to work on, and knowing that what I'm good at has some value.
None of my confidence comes from anything or anyone external -- external sources can provide gratification and appreciation, but, to me, this has nothing whatsoever to do with my self-confidence. My self-confidence is an entirely separate matter which no one else can influence or affect. |

I like what Lex had to say. Family and good friends can give good encouragement. Think of the toddler who tries to walk for the first time. A good parent will tell the toddler that he can do this. Think of the child with the training wheels and before that the tricycle. Then remember when the training wheels were taken off because they were no longer necessary. It can work the same way as one gets older. One can have a support group their entire life.

I finally gained self confidence after my last divorce, and found that I really don't have to put up with anyone's crap and can handle this life just fine by myself. More fun with someone holding your hand...but not impossible without it.

I'm sure this has been said a few times, but I'm not gonna read every damn post.
You have to learn to like yourself. Start out with little things and move from there. What you don't like, change and don't worry about what anyone says. Remember, you're not trying to make them happy, you're trying to be happy. |
