2 years ago if u'd asked Obama if he would ever imagine extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy he would have surely said H*ll no....the morph continues from Gitmo to military tribunals to Afghanistan to Iraq to illegals to gays...the real problem is Obama tries to fool everybody that he is doing otherwise.

I guess you also forgot Boehner was caught handing out checks on the senate floor given to him and his buddies by the tobbaco industry.

of course we all know that has little to do with whether a candidate actually used the word 'promise'

in media speak, the spoken intentions of candidates are considered 'promises'

I dont think candidates are wrong to have intentions(that the media dictate as promises), but I do think it would be wrong for a candidate to ever literally PROMISE something that wasnt completely under their jurisdiction. I cant promise how much weight my household will lose collective, I can only say our intentions. Likewise the president cant promise what will happen collectively with the government, he can only state what his/her intentions are and should never make a PROMISE.
