To bad she could not find a home for the kitten for they will put him down due to his attitude towards them at the beginning. If they do not know the history of why he is acting that way they will assume that is how he always is. Too sad, I'm not a cat lover but I hate to see any animal mistreated...

Doesn't mean that she has to know that YOU called them?????? probably wouldn't hurt to make a secret call and let them know that it isn't the cat's fault.

I just got a call from my daughter who will be 20 next week, she was all in tears and freaking out. It takes a lot for Sarah to get so upset that she cries, she is one tough cookie.

She raised her cat from a tiny kitten, a stray she found on the side of the walkway by their apartment. Mello's eyes weren't even opened yet, he was so tiny. She did a great job taking car of him and he grew to be a wonderful cat. Her father, my ex, told her that since Mello hasn't been fixed and is starting to 'spray' she has until Sunday to get rid of the cat. Sarah asked if her friend could take the cat until her birthday and she will use the money she gets to pay for his neutering. Her father agreed so Sarah went in her room to call her friend and set it up......

and her father took the cat opened the door to the apartment and threw him out into the snow!!! The cat took off, terrified, and now Sarah can't find him!!

I can't believe that idiot!!!!!mad mad explode rant rant

NOT a good role model for your daughter...I'm sorry to hear but now your daughter knows a little bit more about the "true self" of her dad

She doesn't want her father thrown in jail because there is no way he could pay bail and then he would probably kick her out. She has no job right now and she and I have issues that she wouldn't be able to stay here for very long. (I don't wish to discuss them in a public forum, people who know me well, know the reasons.)

My daughter puts animals before most people, but she is also thinking about her own welfare too. This has put a wedge between her and her father, just like the one he put between him and our younger daughter.

And animal cruelty is never okay, so don't think she is thinking it is just because her father did it. She hates him for this.

Not an easy thing Darlin.

Sorry for what you all are dealing with. When no one shows up for his funeral but the undertaker...THEN he will understand.

personally I think you should contact an animal rescue group and explain the kitten's situation. They would be less likely to have him put down. They would even consider trying to rehabilitate him.

This is not a bad idea!

Eileen look up SAve-A-Pet- they're in Suffolk- they might be able to help.

What ever you do girl I hope it all works out in the end. This is one of those things you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

For if you call the shelter ect and tell them anything then they will take matters into their hands which could be reporting your ex. Which in fact would cause your daughter more heart ache. I'm not in anyway saying what he did was right for it was not.

It is up to the shelter now whether to find the kitten a home or not. Regardless when you take a animal to the shelter you have no guarantee they will not put it to sleep no matter if it reacted the way it did or not. Only the no kill shelters would you have that guarantee.

Many times I have heard of animals being put down 3-4 days after they were dropped off regardless what policy is.

This is something your daughter will not forget that her dad did. And something they will have to deal with. Since she has to live with her dad due to certain issues you rocking the boat will only cause her more issues to deal with as well as more worries for you.

It is sad but at times there are things we really don't like the decisions we have to make. Hope it all works out for all involved in the end.

The cat was probably spraying the house and he wanted to get it outdoors. I can't imagine that he's giving his daughter a place to live, but he hates her enough to make her cat run away.

I quoted you, but I want to repeat what you said so you realize how foolish it sounds.

I have no idea why you think that sounds foolish. Maybe you've never smelled a house a cat has sprayed in or maybe you don't realize that a neutered cat will continue to spray areas that it sprayed pre-neuter. I love my daughter dearly, but if her cat started spraying my couch, it's getting thrown outside.

before it gets to that...why not get the cat fixed?
