I don't want to be regular
if that's what it means
to watch peoples lives
who've seen what I've seen

I don't want to be right
if that's what it means
to watch someone suffer
or ruin their dreams

I don't want to be normal
with all that I say
to go with the crowd
instead of my way

I don't want to be hateful
nasty and cruel
to hurt someone else
someone like you

I want to be loving
I don't care what it takes
may take a lifetime
and many mistakes

I want to be faithful
faithful and kind
these are my thoughts
rolling round in my mind

I want to be peaceful
just like a dove
built by God's hand
so full of love

I don't want to be harsh
no that's not my way
say something good
or have nothing to say

I do have a wish though
a wish for you all
a life full of happiness
and a place you can call
home
