Topic: do you work out or exercise regularly! | |

P90X Doubles... Well, I will be starting it again April 4th, with a slight variation...
I'm doing morning Carido X every morning, 7 days a week, and will continue the Classic program with it. I figure by Independence day I'll be back where I want to be, and able to take my shirt off without fear of embarrassment... I'd actually like to get into MMA training afterwards... |

Good Luck...Now that I figured out how good the cardio is from riding & the gelding has actually turned out to be much easier to train than I imagined, I will be riding him every day the weather allows except for one water cardio & one yoga day! |

I did my first 10K this morning, and it was the first race of the year. I had done 5K's and a 8K last year. I was not sure why I was doing it since we started at 8am when it was 40* outside...lol. But I did do it in 50 minutes (50:00:16). It just tells me that I need more practice...lol I am working up to a half marathon in October (then maybe full marathon next year).

Yeah, some times I wonder why I am working out and then I remember after wards how good it feels. I figure that if I workout for an hour then it is better than an hour being lazy on the couch or something...lol Good Luck

Yeah, some times I wonder why I am working out and then I remember after wards how good it feels. I figure that if I workout for an hour then it is better than an hour being lazy on the couch or something...lol Good Luck yes, I am amazed at how much better I handle stress nowadays and just how good I feel!!! Much less anxiety in life, I'm better focused, and I am much more comfortable in my own skin than before I had the regular exercise & yoga routine. I never "worked out" much per say before I found out I was IR & exercise is the most important factor in preventing this from developing into diabetes. I eat much healthier now too. I haven't lost much weight this year, but I feel so much healthier and fit. The doc said once my body is able to process the fat stored up in my liver then I will drop more body fat so until then I just have to keep on keeping on to get there. Being healthier is what I focus on more rather than weight loss. I get my intro training for energy therapy this Saturday & can't wait for that!!! |

After being laid up for 17 mo with a bad knee and 3 surgerys(had a total knee replacement in NOV) the dr finally released me to go to the gym.. I go 4 days a wk , work out for an hour (had to start slow, working my way up).. I also ride my recumbent bike 3 miles a day, started with 5 min..I lost some of the strength in my good leg also so I am working on that and trying to lose the weight I gained when I could do nothing all that time. Riding the Harley doesn't give me any exercise but I love doing that!!

I will have myself a steel pony some day :) There's one for sale down the road from me that is AWESOME, but I can't afford it :( At least riding my fuzzy ponies gives me a good work out! |

What do you do for exercise, how often, how intense? Do you do it for stress relief or to stay in shape (or both)? What type of work-out do you like and how intense??? Love it/Hate it? any other comments.... threw everything off track... |

There is so much that can be done in the house without equipment that is simple and works, such as Squats, lunges, and pushups, walking up stairs, walking outside, and numerous body weight only exercises. Pull Up bars are pretty cheap highly effective. YOU DO NOT NEED A GYM MEMBERSHIP AND THOUSAND $ EQUIPMENT TO WORK ON!
All else fails, find something you used to enjoy doing that got you moving or try different things out that get you moving. Soreness is your body telling you, I have not been used like this before but I will adapt if you continue. One other thing, you don't have to spend countless hours a day working out. Even 5min a day of effort, if you’re consistent will give you results. Ok, that’s enough of my silliness. |

You are correct sir! However, other than water cardio & yoga...I hate working out indoors. Treadmills, ellipticals, weights, sit ups, etc all bore me to death! I like to get out & move :) Took the dogs for a nice hike across the pasture, through the woods, down to the river, walked the sandbar, & hiked back on a different trail yesterday.
I have realized lately that walking a brisk pace when I hoof it across campus gets some extra cardio (20 mins/day). The new yoga class I am doing now also incorporates cardio. I walked for about 3 hrs today at Chilifest so I don't feel so bad for the beers & corn dog I had...LOL:) My heart rate stayed @ about 65% the entire time (really like the HR monitor). msfox...I enjoyed reading your pm and hope I am still that active when I grow up :) Water cardio is really easy on the joints and you can work all your muscles (even the ones you never knew you had-LOL) Holly...what did you do for exercise? Do you plan to get back into it when the weather gets better? Oh yeah...the energy therapy helps to raise metabolism and is useful for treatment of cancer, metabolic disorders such as IR and diabetes, and other disorders involving chronic pain, etc! |

I was just venting. People give so many excuses not to be active. It is just to easy once you find something you enjoy and see results. Finding it and gathering up the initiative to find that fun activity can be a challenge. Just like any thing new, don't knock it till you try it. |

I totally agree about not needing memberships & lads of equipment, we just differ in how we like to work out. Weights, resistance, etc has it's place for sure! I prefer cardio because I like to move around & also trying to up my metabolism rather than build muscle & such. Luckily, I live in Texas & the weather doesn't put too much of a strain on the things I like to do :) |

Great workout today!!!
Who's been keeping it up & who's been lazy lately? |
|
|
|
I thought I would step up the route I take, only I missed a turn and ended up doing about 9 miles instead of 7 (I use to do a 5 mile route). I was getting the 5 mile route done too fast an 7 miles puts me right about 60 minutes...
