Topic: Taking vacation from work

I was watching the news and they were talking about how many people don't take all the vacation time each year. I never understood this. Do you take a vacation each year? Do you use up all of your vacation time? In my company, we can only carry over one week, so I make sure to use up at least all the vacation I'd lose by the end of the year. If you don't, why?

My job IS one big vacation. So, no, I never go anywhere :-)

Who has time for a vacation? All I do is work, 24/7. I had to quit school cause of recess!

I haven't had a vacation in two years........ 1- I dont get a paid vacation 2- no one handles the work when I am gone, my desk piles up so I am more stressed when I take one 3- yes come hel l or highwater I will be taking one this coming winter

And that's bad that they can't provide someone to be your back up should you have to take off.

I vacation every year. I think you need to to stay sane and healthy. France gives out like a month and half of vacations annually. So since we don't get as much, we need to use it!

I have missed vacations because of the process to 'apply' for the vacation. The paperwork has to be submitted(Im in administrative work) and THEN approved and it is usually approved by seniority which I have rarely had... So I miss out ,,,

Well, since I got laid off from the newspaper in Feb. after 10 years unfortunatly I am on vacation every day!!

I have coworkers who barely take time off and even when they do, they still take their work with them. I never understood that either.

I just took a vacation of about 6 weeks. But, it was only because I was out of work. I did take a short, weekend vacation about 3 years ago. It was alright, but I went to Austin for a class on social networking. It was a very full weekend and I didn't get any rest until I got back home again.

Never worked a job where I got vacation time. And going into social work, I probably won't have a job with vacation time unless I work for the State (which I don't really want to do). Also, my vacations (lately) have just been full of stress. What I really need right now is a vacation without my kido (and any jack*** boyfriends, I might have at the time).

I am a firm believer in using the time given to me. We can carry over from year to year but your max at any one time is 120 hours. I usually just take days here and there due to my workload. 2008 was the first time in my LIFE that I have taken an entire week off and actually hopped on a plane and went on a VACATION! Cancun and it was AWESOME!!!! But alas now I want to take one every year and I can't afford it AGAIN!!!

I love taking vacations and am constantly using my time off. I also have coworkers that never go and I don't understand that, go off and have some fun!!

we can't carry over any vacation so I take all my vacation every year. I may not go anywhere but I'm not going to work either
