I've moved just frequently enough that I don't "really" feel like I have a hometown. I suppose it's where the love is, so I am fortunate to have many. I feel "at home" in several places.

I'm interested in stories from neighborhoods where you still see your best friend from 3rd Grade, and perhaps are STILL best friends...

OR

...if perhaps your hometown wasn't all that what you wanted....you moved....and you found "home".

We're all so transient these days. The suburbs and sprawl seem to have no soul. THAT's saved for the city burroughs and rural communities.

I have been fortunate in the fact that my Mom still lives in the same home that I grew up in from the time I was 11. I still have my childhood friends that I see fairly regularly. I always know I'm with the old gang because I go from being Jayne to Jaynie in a split second

Can't even count how many times I've changed my address.

My parents moved around so many times since I was a kid, and when I grew up, the same seemed to happen for me, but hopefully, my next major move will be my last.

I don't live in the town I grew up in, and neither do any of my childhood friends, but I'm still friends with all of them, and we still get together. One of my friends I've literally known my whole life- we've known each other for 40 years.

My hometown has a population of about 750 people. I lived there till I was twenty. Moved 30 miles away for 7 years. Back to it for 8 years. Now i'm a couple hours away. But I can go back around the holidays and probably see 65 to 70 percent of my graduating class. Who are there to visit.

Thanks. Although I have lived an hour and a half from "home" for the last 30 years I am close enough to be able to keep in touch. Throughout my life these friends have supported me through the rough times and celebrated with me in the good ones. There is a certain comfort in knowing that I'm not that different from the girl of my childhood and that I have been loved and valued by these people for a lifetime! It is also fun to still be able to raise a little "h3ll" with the girls I got grounded with 40 years ago

I left my hometown right after High School to seek my fame and fortune with the money saved from working part-time after school and full-time during summer vacations.
The oil sands of Alberta called out to me and I soon discovered how competitive the market was for work, women and suitable housing.
The local population was comprised of blue collar and white collar workers imported from around the world and all regions of Canada.
It was the best possible environment for me at that stage of my education.
After becoming the youngest Chief Engineer in Alberta I was earning a higher salary at 22 than my father did at 49. Then I learned that strange things are done in the midnight sun by those who moil for oil so I headed for higher ground to try my hand at photography in the Rocky Mountains.
There are many markets for photographers with some being more lucrative than others but creative control works counter to pay-scale.
Shooting for stock photo agencies allows the most creative control but pays the least and set stills for film productions pays the most but allows the least amount of creative control.
My photography career has taken me to some great places in the company of some great people and now has delivered me back to my hometown 25 years after seeing it in my rear view mirror.
In the last few years I've crossed paths with old friends from High School who are now either grandparents or still kicking the same can down the street that they had since I last saw them.

There is a moral here but it's yet to be determined...

Im Canadian, Ive lived in the States for a year, and now Ive been living in Mexico for almost 7 years. Im in Canada right now visiting my chickadees...but when Im on the plane headed ack to Mex. it feels like Im headed home sooooo I guess its home now...Mi Casa E mi corazon es Puerto Vallarta!

Facebook must be my hometown because that's where I have found all my childhood friends.

my hometown was in ohio, near a small town called Fairlawn.

I have alot of family there and the band I sang in and it was a safe and quiet place to live with plenty of GRASS and parks and everything in walking distance,,,and people said hello and how are you and acted neighborly,,,,,,I really miss it to be honest(except for the winters,,the snow sucks)

My mom moved all of the time, but we always seemed to come back to Anderson. I have continued to live here all of my adult life, my parents are here, my kids are all here, and yes...my best friend, whom I met in 2nd grade. Over 40 years with the same best friend. She was in the military and gone to college for awhile, but has been back home for several years. Evne when we were apart...we were still together.

I was born in chandler,AZ but have lived here in Nebr. for over 40 years so I guess this is home for now!!
