Topic: No, I Don't Want To Date You | |

Oftentimes, you have to go through a lot of crap to have an opposite-gendered friend, and lots of people lack the perspective that makes those friendships possible and pleasant.
A person is likely to have a lot of lovers throughout their lives and but you're REALLY blessed if you have just one extremely good friend who sticks by you. -Kerry O. |

Not sure if I'm off topic or back on. When I'm in the forums I click on a lot of profiles because of something someone says - it's just curiosity and I do it to both male and females. Should I not do that? Is that rude?

Should I not do that? Is that rude? I don't think it's rude at all. I mean, what is a profile for? For people to look at, to read, and (hopefully) to get to know something about the person who wrote it. If they didn't want someone looking at it, they shouldn't have put it out there in the first place. I used to look at tons of profiles. Not so much anymore because, frankly, they're mostly all the same -- vapid and boring. |

I have noticed that more and more people are here for friendship only, whether they be new or old. Personally, I'm here for the same reason. There are times that I would look at someone's profile or even send them a message because: 1. I randomly clicked on their profile and found something in there that piqued my curiosity. 2. I saw them around the Community Forum and found them funny or interesting. 3. I was just THAT bored. But some people would automatically assume that just because I initiated the contact: I want to date them, get their money, or marry them. Has anything like this ever happened to you too, wherein you found someone interesting on a friendship level, but they immediately took it the wrong way? How can you tell people that, "No, I don't find you hot. I'd probably slit my wrists with a rusty butter knife before I'd consider dating you. I actually just want to be friends." Have you ever initiated contact because you genuinely just want to be friends and they never replied back, or if they did, only gave you a perfunctory answer? I'm probably not making any sense, but they're serious questions. If I initiate contact it is for friendship leading to dating and so on from there. It becomes a friendship if we meet and the romantic spark or attraction is not there. But hey, friends are a great thing to have! As far as people respnding, I have had pretty good luck with that |

I like your observations, but in my case it is my lovers and ex lovers who are among my best friends - even tho we've moved on and I really never see any of them any more, I know they'd be there for me if I needed a hand. One or two might give me the "look" but still help me. Why? Cuz I 've chosen well, and so have they. |

It could be a religious thing as the evening used to be the beginning of the day; That surely it is time for the bar to be open somewhere; They might worked third shift or that they simply can't tell time. Since the battery went out on living room clock gives the same time continuously. |

I'm completly daft when it comes to flirting. Even if people flirt with me I still can't seem to pick up on it. I can't flirt very well, and really can't pick up on when someone is flirting with me. So pretty much every conversation is on a friendship level, and I can't tell you if they want to date me, marry me, or (as funny as it seems) want to get my money. I'm the same way, I have absolutely no concept of flirting. People have said to me, "Didn't you notice her flirting with you?" and I'm totally oblivious. I never even know who they're talking about. Even when I was in a relationship with a girl, I used to get weird reactions at certain places with certain people. My (ex) girlfriend giving me a look; cutting short of conversations; pulling me away from certain areas..later I asked surprisingly "What is going on?" And she answered: "Didn't you notice she was flirting with you all along??" I'm like: "No." Then she would start acting all suspicious if I was actually playing with her. She was loosing her trust in me, even though I haven't done a damn thing. you had a g/f ?!? !? |

I usually don't message people anyway because I am shy and a bit self-conscious. I usually get stuck in the "friend zone" anyway so just about every conversation I have is on that level. I also have no concept of flirting or if someone likes me.
Off topic kinda but I did message someone one time because he was harassing me in a thread and I wanted to find out why. Turned into a great year long friendship...man I miss Mirror...don't know if anyone remembers him. |

Dammit!!! and of course the ticket is none refundable! It was too late when I noticed that it had a stamp at the back of the ticket that said, "Complimentary Tickets. Not for sale." |

I totally see where you coming from. So...when do you want to meet my parents, before or after the ceremony? Depends on what kind of dessert they're bringing. |

Fear, maybe you can cut and paste your post above, put it in your profile, so they'll know that they have to tell you what's what. That or whack you with a fish. |

When I saw this topic in the lobby my first thought was "Now there's a phrase I've heard before!!" I thought you all were talking about me behind my back, right in front of me.
Whew!! That was close. Well Red, I guess you just need to peruse my profile. I automatically assume they aren't interested and go from there. |
