http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/showbiz/2010/08/04/behar.pet.hoarder.hln?hpt=C2 "Rice, 68, is best known for Interview With a Vampire and other gothic novels. Raised as a Catholic, she had rejected the church early in her life but renewed her faith in recent years and in 2008 released the memoir Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession. In a phone interview, Rice said she had been having doubts for the past two to three years. She was troubled by the child abuse scandals in the church, and the church's defensive reaction, and by the ex-communication of Sister Margaret McBride, a nun and hospital administrator who had approved an abortion for a woman whose life was in danger. "I believed for a long time that the differences, the quarrels among Christians didn't matter a lot for the individual, that you live your life and stay out of it. "But then I began to realise that it wasn't an easy thing to do," said Rice, speaking from her home near Palm Springs, California. "I came to the conclusion that if I didn't make this declaration, I was going to lose my mind." Rice said she is a Democrat who supports the historic health care legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama and believes gay marriage inevitably will be permitted throughout the country. Although no longer part of any denomination, she remains a believer and continues to read theology and post Biblical passages on her Facebook page. She has no immediate plans to write about her leaving the church and will continue with her metaphysical fiction series, Songs of the Seraphim. Rice will not be taking up vampires again, but she said she is a big fan of the HBO series True Blood, enjoyed the first two Twilight movies (she has yet to read any of the Stephenie Meyer novels) and is interested in seeing her most famous character, the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, return to the screen. "We're in talks about it," she said. "But then we've always been in talks about it. Hope springs eternal in California." http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/books/anne-rice-renounces-her-christianity-refusing-to-be-antigay-20100803-11492.html |

Not really, I listened to her in an interview...she's OUT of mainstream Christianity and rejects it fully.
"For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today I quit being a Christian. I’m out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to “belong” to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else." OUCH! She's NO longer one of you...the title fits. You lost another one from this insanity called "organized religion". Religion is best tolerated when it's divided and can no longer cause harm to humanity. SCORE one for the humanists! |

Stalin-Atheist was responsible for around 60,000,000 murders most of which were his own Soviet people. Mao Tse Tung-Atheist was responsible for the killing of 49,000,000 to 78,000,000 people, mostly Chinese. Pol Pot was-Atheist responsible for the murders of 1,700,000 people. Kim Il Sung-Atheist of North Korea has so far murdered 1,600,000 North Koreans. Wow us gun toting Christians sure have a pitifull death toll espically in the last thousand or so years. As far as the idiot Ann rice.I am glad she is out of Christianity. She claimed she was a Christian yet spent all her time writing about vampires, demons, witches and other un-godly people. She was Bi-sexual and a firm supporter of the gay lifestyle. She supported and loved to mingle with Wiccans and practice their beliefs.I could go on and on. People like Ann rice is the reason Christians get a bad name. They claim they are Christian yet do everything the bible says not to do.Christianity does not need fake Christians who go to church and then spend the night at some Wiccan orgy for vampires. So I say good riddance to her! |

Christians are creeps. All that thinking their better than everyone else and believing in magic n' crap.
Thomas, writing fiction doesn't make someone a non-Christian. Sheesh. That's how the woman made her living, and she was quite good at it. |
|

|
whatever works for Anne,,,its her life and her soul to do as she wishes.
Christianity 'loses' some followers everyday. IT also 'gains' new ones. This doesnt feel like a personal blow to me, its one woman and her personal decision. |

I can’t find ONE atheist that has ever killed anyone in the name of atheism....LOL What a weird analogy. Pol Pot did not kill nearly 2 million people in the name of a religion…no what he did was racial genocide. “Even the sick were wheeled out in hospital beds, and in the first weeks it is estimated that tens of thousands died. The ruthlessness with which he pursued his intention to return to "year zero" and create an ethnically pure, agrarian, communist state resulted in the deaths of one to two million people http://www.answers.com/topic/pol-pot Religion had nothing to do with it but I do notice that generally the American religionists vastly ignore the present day slaughter in Darfur….since 2003... “United States government death toll estimates for the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan in Africa underestimate the count by hundreds of thousands of lost lives, according to a new study.” Some experts estimate that the conflict between government-sponsored militias and rebel groups, which began in February 2003, has killed as many as 500,000 people so far.”(article of 2006) 4 Years later it’s STILL happening. ~~~ The point is that I can directly attribute about 75% of ALL human conflicts as religion based…and have so, anyone up for yet another “Hitler was a Christian” thread?…by request I’ll work on it maybe. Maybe not tho~. Again I can’t find ONE atheist that has ever killed anyone in the name of atheism. I can’t speak for all atheists but I get the feeling there are many atheists like me out there wanting peace, starvation to end, discriminations stopped, knowledge embraced, and an acceptance that only knowledge can make us better human beings. Do the Christians NOT get that their way is a bloody road? |

this is not true, as noone has recorded all of them......its not possible to
'The point is that I can directly attribute about 75% of ALL human conflicts as religion based…and have so, anyone up for yet another “Hitler was a Christian” thread?…by request I’ll work on it maybe. Maybe not tho~. ' as far as atheism,, what does it even mean to kill in the name of religion? an individual who kills is a killer, whatever distorted reason they give,, the book doesnt make them kill , I grew up with it and I can hardly stand the thought of war I am so passive,,, If we somehow get as many democrats as we do christians in this world, and by the numbers it shows some of them are shooting politicians to save democracy,, would we really blame those murders on the existence of democracy? People kill for two reasons,, survival, greed, or envy, its sad that anyone cant see that or all the convenient scapegoats that get tossed up in the place of greed and envy |

Oops I forgot to add Hitler. Hitler was a Christian...own it. Bush is a Christian who helped start two illegal war with christian's support that has killed a million Arabs (so far)...own it. Oh sure in between burning all books written by Jews Boycotting and murding Jews in stores. Blaming the Jews for all of Germanys and the worlds problems. Burning down Jewish and Christian churches. Sending millions of Jews to extermination camps. Hitler is going to get down on his knees and bow down and worship Jesus Christ WHO IS A JEW!Then Hitler is going to sit in church and listen to either the Old testament(which was written by Jews)or listen to Jesus(who is a Jew)preach about the Old testament. Bush didn't start any war.The Muslims started a war with America. If it wasn't for Atheist and Muslims starting Wars we wouldn't have anything to worry about would we? It's no wonder Atheist always rank dead last in popularity polls concerning religon. They have no idea what they are talking about. |

Do the Christians NOT get that their way is a bloody road? Well Middle earthling it is hardly surprising to any of us the countless posts you have started in here directed towards Christians and their actions. If you must continue to classify people as Christians or others by what they believe then I fail to understand why you would not do the same for Atheist. They all seem to share a common belief that Christianity is bad for the world and the world would be a better place with out them.Only a total fool would discredit this common thread with Atheist and the millions they have killed because they hated people who believed in religion. Where you get 75% of ALL human conflicts are religion based is nothing but a flat out lie.Just looking at the Wars with the highest body counts(World war 1,2,and Vietnam)were not started because of religion. They were started by Atheist dictators trying to take over the world. Your claim that Atheist have never killed anyone is so laughable I don't know where to start.History has shown that Atheist dictators go on murdering genocide in some of these third world countries to get rid of anyone who believes in a higher power then they do.Needless to say someone believing in God does not fit well with someone trying to gain complete power over the people of a country. Why else would dictators kill millions of people in their own country?Because they either don't bow down to the leader of that country or they believe in God.That is why Atheist countries like China has no official religion. You can't find one Atheist killing for Atheism? How about a Atheist killing people for their belief in God and letting someone who is a Atheist live? You want me to start posting articles about how every blood hungry Atheist who murdered people always abolished religion from the start? What is Atheism doing for Dafur Mr Middle earthling???Nothing. You want to know who is trying to do something? The Christians who are risking their lives down there trying to stop the War.Try typing "Christians and Darfur".You will get hundreds of websites of Christians trying to help those people.Try typing "Atheist Darfur".You ain't getting a damn thing. You even have Christian websites devoted to nothing but helping people in Darfur. From http://darfurdaily.blogspot.com/2005/10/christian-groups-persist-in-darfur.html "Christian organisations are persisting in their efforts to distribute aid in Sudan’s war-torn Darfur region despite escalating violence as peace talks continue. With the intensified violence in the Western Sudan region, many aid groups have pulled their relief teams out from the area. Yet several Christian organisations remain in the region and are distributing supplies to the millions of displaced people who have suffered from 19 months of conflict". As far as your rant about debating Hitler and the millions of people Atheist have killed over the years.I say bring it on.I will post so many facts, statistics, stories, testimonies, etc, about how much misery Atheist have caused this world you will wish you never started that post. |

"Religious apologists often respond that those guilty of such actions are merely misguided extremists and don't represent mainstream religion, or that such things are only exceptions and that, by and large, religion is a positive civilizing influence on society. Atheists such as Hector Avalos counter that this may be a No true Scotsman fallacy in that apologists may decide which believers are considered "mainstream" and which are "extremist" on a basis that favors their position"
Christians should stop pretending moral superiority and keep their religion in their homes and churches....that's the only way to peace. History proves that religion IS the main factor in conflicts...deaths, discriminations, supression of science...etc etc etc. PS: The DIPPIC in 8 years did not address the Darfur situation with resolve, instead of military/humanitarian aide and diplomacy to stop the terror in the Darfur region he instead went off to war for oil in the Middle East. He ignored Darfur because that's where China get's some of it's oil. Add that the terrorists that commmit these atrocities are from Saudi Arabia...no, the Dippic just holds their hands...literally. You got what you voted for: Continued genocide in the Darfur region. |

not need fake Christians who go to church and then spend the night at some Wiccan orgy for vampires Wow. Where do people sign up for vampirical orgies? I like oral soooo much. Anne Rice dumped Chistianity 'coz she wad dumped by some tall, dark, handsome devil. Women don't take kindly to being dumped. Especially the good lookin' ones. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn'd." It's time Satan learned that lesson. Go Anne, show 'im what you are made of! (I know the real answer to that. "Dust.") |

Guys. Fair is fair. If we don't agree to being defeated in an argument by being shown facts that the opposition supports their claims with, then we can't expect them to agree to defeat when we show them facts that show we are right.
So I, as a staunch and unrelenting atheist, admit that in the 20th century atheist dictators had ordered more humans killed than all Christians altogether in the same period. Why fight facts? You can't out-argue facts. This is futile. AND stupid. The Christians win this argument. |
|
|
|
Good. Now that that's settled, we can fairly expect Christians to capitulate every time we present them with any number if irrefutable facts that supports our, atheists', arguments. No ifs, buts and ends from the Christian debaters at those times when our arguments are supported by irrefutable fact; they will be morally obliged to capitulate unconditionally. This policy is bi-lateral, it goes for both camps, no ifs buts and ends. |

These are just examples of people that don't practice what they preach. Because in NO way does Christianity support any of the things mentioned in this thread. So i ask you please don't let one or two bad apples spoil the bunch. Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. |

Sup MM? Good to see you...I got them on the run here...they are not sure what's up or down...historical facts over historical fiction really really confuses them.
Heading to a new site called TALKEDABOUT.COM I invite everyone to join a site where people can talk adult talk w/o getting their threads sliced up...pfffft. "Christ told us to turn the other cheek." Nothing to see here people...move along! Ignore genocide...ignore the leaders you asked for who have killed millions...vote for Palin to kill more Muslins! Crap...should be a pic of Office Barbrady....oh well. Just imagine... |

Bush was elected into office mainly by the faithful...so far about a million Arabs have been killed and the US economy gutted...we've lost over 5K of our troops and have 30K at home with disabilities... List me the people killed because someone was pushing atheism...ONE? None? Really? Pol Pot's genocide was about racism..I know of NOT ONE racist atheist ever...lol. How many people will Christians kill and maim to prove their religion is correct? |
