Had mine out at twenty-two.
Sore and puffed up for a week or more. Depends how badly they are impacted and how good your dentist is. Mine was kind of a butcher. |

Mine are gone...was in my early 30's I think.
Mine weren't bothering me but my dentist noticed that their roots were starting to grow around my jaw bone so he recommended that I get them out before it got too bad. Too late! It was awful! I had to have them cut out...minor surgery, anesthesia and all! Which that wasn't so bad...I was knocked out. Some pain after the anesthesia wore off but not anything I couldn't handle. But then I got a dry socket and that was HORRID!!!! I am SO glad that he got them all because I would never have gone back to have the others removed after that experience!!! |

Yikes, that sounds painful. |

awww...sucky! I fortunately have never gotten them in and never will. I'm a strange one...the dentist told me they didn't exist for my mouth, but if it makes you feel better, I have extra bones in my jaw and spine

I still have half of a wisdom tooth left. It compliments the other two teeth I have. Tuesday, I won't have any teeth. The gums are sore I have. I am trying to cut back on the Ibuprofen. I ran out of Vicoden. Still have these bone fragments coming to the surface of the gums.

I had one pulled (lower left) pulled along with the molar next to it when I was 19 because the roots were wrapped around each other. That moron gave me two shots of Novocaine and told me to be a "trooper" while he went in with pliers...then needed the assistant to get other pliers and help him. I was picking vinyl out from under my fingernails for weeks, from the arms of the chair.
Other three were pulled when I was 32 or 33, all at once...by a different dentist. |

I was around 25 when I got mine out...and they definately needed to come out. Two were impacted and the other two were partially impacted.
I got them taken out under local anesetic (sp?) only. It was long and extermely uncomfortable. Afterwards, I was on 600 of motrin... and slept for about two days. But that was much better than when they were hurting. I was in tears and rocking back and forth when they hurt. |

Had all 4 yanked when I was 17 or 18. One was impacted (that was more painful than the recovery!)and figured might as well get 'em all done at once.
Went under for it...little laughing gas (fun!), shot of sleeping serum in the IV, two seconds later (seemed like that to me!) I woke up. Looked like a chipmunk with my cheeks full of nuts for a few days, but the pain wasn't bad at all. Of course, pain is relative...I tolerate it well... If you smoke, be careful... can give you dry sockets and that's not pleasant! Keep the gauze in there the first few days... |
