I have had a couple graduations for my kids and each party was just that....a party for them to celebrate no more school and have fun till college or having to get ready for a real grown up job. I never expected the kids that stopped by to bring a gift. A few brought simple inexpensive gag gifts that were cute or funny and sometimes had a little meaning between them. A nice unexpected gesture. Don't feel bad and I am glad you got closure. At your age.... happily and quickly move on.

People give money to people that graduate?! Is this high school or uni? Not that it really matters.

Why does anyone deserve free cash for passing a few exams? I never got a penny from anyone including my parents why i graduated from uni. All i got was a £10k debt.

Id send the mother a card, with a cheque made out for 'feck all' made out to 'some greedy fat b1t*h'. Signed 'ive shagged your daughter anally'.

Okay, here comes my first ever (of many) WTF stories I will be posting on these forums.

I used to date this girl way back in December. I was her first, and we were like two peas in a pod. Both of us were extremely conceited, because we were convinced we're the hottest things on the planet.

When we broke up in January, she de-friended and blocked me on Facebook because her new boyfriend (that she had one day after) decided she and I shouldn't talk to eachother. Now the strange thing is this is the "guy" was "just a friend" while we were dating. Nothing more than a guy from her creative writing class. After the fact, of course, all my "friends" at the McDonalds I used to work at started telling me stories and tales about how she was dating this "just a friend" while she was dating me.

Anyway, we haven't spoken for 5 months. A couple weeks ago, she called me on the phone and asked me to come to her graduation party. At first I wasn't going to go, because she still had me blocked and de-friended, but she told me she broke up with the guy and he was a total jerk anyway, so I figured why the hell not - at least we can be friends again.

I showed up, and the other guy didn't (man I wish he did... and I wish he'd man up and throw a punch). We had a good time, I made a bunch of new friends and got that little bit of closure I needed between her and I (I felt a lot better after seeing how she chunked out and how crazy her parents still are).

After the party, when I got home I got a phone call from her parents. Just a note - these people are LITERALLY crazy, and I think the mother has some serious psychological disorder. The mother called me on the phone and started YELLING at me. She was YELLING because I didn't get my ex a graduation card and stuff it with money. She went on and on about how disrespectful it is to show up for a party and not have a gift for the person who graduated. I put the phone down on my lap until I heard the YELLING stop and said "yeah I'm real sorry. I got work in the morning, gotta go".

Now call me crazy, but don't people typically invite people to parties because they want their company - not because they think I'm going to give them money?

/wtf_moment_over

Thank you for sharing. We can expect more of these stories?

You were invited to this particular event to bring a gift, nothing more.
You failed.
Now get back to the curb.

As harsh as he puts it, that's the truth.

Oh and yeah she was for sure seeing the other guy while seeing you. A day after? Try two months before you broke up.

For someone who says he used to be conceited/ still kind of is. You sure take it up the butt on a lot of things. 1st when she called inviting you. I would have said "hang on a sec" then farted on the phone and hung up.

Don't let yourself get walked on, or fall for the, but we are still pals crap any one spills.

When you go to the movies and it ends. Do you yell at the projectionist " Hey rewind that about 5 minutes I want to see the credits again." I doubt you do. Plus notice nobody ever stays around for the credits. That's because the fun is over and it's time to run out and pee. Then move on to something else.

As harse as it may seem it's the truth. Sorry dude better luck nex time..
If I were you I would do what Dan99 suggested rofl

There are two things you could do, to re-emasculate yourself from the influence of this family: the girl, the mother the parents, the boyfriend.

One: You can make your good friends at McDonald's to fry a rat in their sandwiches the next time the mother goes, or the boyfriend. Spare the girl, you're in love with her, I respect that.

Two: Somehow, in a socially acceptable way, offer cash to the mother, not too much, for sex; after the tet-de-tet, tell the whole town what an ordinary whore the mother is, and she smells bad, too.

waerloosunset - only when I have a story worth sharing.

Dan99 - most excellent idea. Theres one teensy problem that would stop me from doing it - they know where I live. And they're batshit crazy. Not even the "its 11:10. You said you'd be home at 11:00" with a shotgun in their lap crazy. Crazier.

wux - ain't in love no more. After I found out she was cheating on me, I lost all respect for her. It turns out she does that a lot to the guys she dates, she recycles them in a few months, and dates them 2 or 3 at a time.

Also, I wouldn't touch her mother with a 10 foot pole.

Personally if I knew the family was batshlt crazy in the first place I wouldn't have gone. If nothing else I suppose it's good you got closure but why put yourself through all that if you don't have to. You may not have known this particular situation would occur but you had to expect something.

I like to stay away from crazy people, they make me want to punch them.

yeah, there are different types of parties,,,

gettogethers are thrown for the attendees to just go and enjoy themselves,,,,,

parties in HONOR of some event or occasion are thrown to congratulate and celebrate someones SPECIAL occasion or event,, usually involving money from that persons pocket to supply refreshments, environment,,etc,,,, and a gift is usually appreciated

things like Birthdays, graduations, anniversaries,, arent just random gettogethers,,, usually
