this morning I was pulling into a gas station when I saw a lady in her 80s with a walker struggling trying to put Gas in her Car… so I stopped and offered my help, poor lady couldn’t even scan her card… while I was fueling for her and talking with her, In the corner of my eye I saw movement inside the car, so I looked, I saw 2 females and one male in their early 20s in the car, maybe her Grandkids, I was shocked to see that neither one of them had the decency to get t off their *** and help her.
Whatever happens to Respect and care for your elders?

Unfortunately, there are some people out there like that. It certainly does not mean all people their age are like that.

You're right Singme.
I've heard complaints about "this" generation for over 45 years.
btw, one of Hitler's speeches complained about the younger generation.

it would be wrong of me to generalize all..... but that quality seem to be diminishing.

True there are some like that out there but actually I have not ran into many like that. Heck I have been helped by complete strangers as I have returned that favor. I know it is not something one of my kids or those within my family would ever do.......all depends on how they were raised...

What do you propose to do about it?

All I know is that if I was in the car with my grandmom and she was trying to put gas in the car and she was having issues, I'd totaly help her... Unfortunately I'll never have that chance.

It's because some people don't teach their children respect or discipline them and then when they get older they act like little Jerks.

I will just put it out there,, the generation is a reflection of their environment and their parenting

parents have stopped working together (increased divorce rates), parents who are together are often both working harder outside the home to earn money than they are working inside the home to teach their kids,,,,televisions and ipods and mp3s are replacing human contact and family units, rude is the new cool, self centered attitudes are now promoted as healthy, and children are basically being given license to remain children their whole life so mom or dad can feel needed and have someone running back to them over and over again

there isnt enough tough love, there isnt enough setting of good examples, there isnt enough interaction or REALISTIC teaching of values and rules,,,,,in essence,,,,shortly after the free love generation, many parents decided children should be EQUAL to everyone else(sans the responsibilities) and started becoming their friends instead of their teachers and guides

I have faith that this is not the MAJORITY of kids , but it is too many for comfort

That was very sweet of you to help her. Sadly, there are lots of young people today that are like that.

As said earlier in the thread, the younger people are like that due to their parents not teaching them well. It's not just this generation, either. People have been complaining about lack of manners for a long time. But, fortunately, not all of the younger generation are that way.

I dated this woman who had 24 & 28 year old sons. The plan they had in mind was that the mother was supposed to work to support thier lazy butts while I supported her.The boys also thought that I should give them money on demand.Needless so say that arrangement didn't fly.

you hit the nail on the head! Parents need to be involved more and teach their kids.

It's not always the parents fault. Some people are jerks despite how they were raised and some people are nice despite how bad the parents were.
