I think we can some it up as Respect if it is never learned it well never be given back. You can blame video game rap music and all the others. But it well always boil down to Respect.

Respect is earned, not expected and demanded. If a kid hasn't learned respect by the time their 3 feet tall it ain't gonna happen ...

this morning I was pulling into a gas station when I saw a lady in her 80s with a walker struggling trying to put Gas in her Car… so I stopped and offered my help, poor lady couldn’t even scan her card… while I was fueling for her and talking with her, In the corner of my eye I saw movement inside the car, so I looked, I saw 2 females and one male in their early 20s in the car, maybe her Grandkids, I was shocked to see that neither one of them had the decency to get t off their *** and help her.
Whatever happens to Respect and care for your elders?

I blame capitalism......if they aren't getting any money for it, why do it?

I don't think Capitalism has anything to do with it, we live in the same country, I've helped many strangers in my life times, from helping my old neighbor to take her groceries up when I was a kid, to helping on the side of the road with some car trouble.
I think our parents put in the time and effort , now a day both parents go to work in the morning and don’t come home till late, so no one is there to teach these kids right from wrong.

I do not know, but my boys jump to pull out the chair, open the door, and fuel my car.....not only for me but everyone else in the world elderly or not........They are good boys that way.........a pain in the neck mostly don't listen or do what they are told other than that.......but I am sure with time a maturity they will hop to everywhere else.......

MAIN REASON: people believe thay cannot spank their children, which is not true. you cannot abuse or leave marks on your children,,,,,,,,,,,but I will say this........never happened when kids were getting their azzzzzzes beat!!!

I blame Emo Phillips too. Haha.

Honestly, I don't think it's a generational thing as much as it is the psychological stigma that's being presented here - the idea that something is to blame. This idea transcends all racial, geographical, and socio-economic boundaries.

Personal responsibility has always been the least entertaining concept to indulge.

As far as this generation, the large majority of the baby boomers raised their children as if they were more special than anyone else. That gives them the idea that they don't have to so the respect that they think they deserve.

Other then that, some people just have their head up their ***.

My sons are 26, 18 and 15 so I guess were referring to all of them..
I guess I'm lucky. They work, open doors for old ladies, don't smack women and kiss me on the cheek when they come and go.

They are on the lazy side..still do what needs to be done without any whining. Given a choice they probably wouldn't. Some of my favorite people are their friends..I think their sharp, intelligent and full of life. I love these young people. Their much more fun and open than the stuffy old people my age...

"Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the baby boom ended, ranging from 1961 to 1981."

Wikipedia never lies! Technically you're in "Generation Y", number96, but I like to think of it more as Generation Rx. It sounds cooler and I think it is more accurate.

Sounds like you have raised some good offspring.

Alot of people I've encountered only show respect if they're shown it first. But then there is a good amount of people like me who show respect without demanding it.
