This is the most inane claim ever. Attacks by Arabs on Israel predates Hamas and Hizbullah. Goes back before the state of Israel's creation. The leaders of Hamas created Hamas and their primary objective is their own power and control of their own people. They believe in torture, extrajudicial killings, indiscriminate shooting of rockets into schools and homes.

Hamas teaches hatred and intolerance in their schools. This is not a creation of Israel. This is fascism and thuggery. People behaving like animals. Ignorant and violent and despicable, the history is well known and well documented. RP just doesn't know it.

Educate yourself and learn the truth:

Myth:

"Israel created Hamas."

Fact:

Israel had nothing to do with the creation of Hamas. The The organization grew out of the ideology and practice of the Islamic fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood movement that arose in Egypt in the 1920s.

Hamas was legally registered in Israel in 1978 as an Islamic Association by Sheikh Ahmad Yassin. Initially, the organization engaged primarily in social welfare activities and soon developed a reputation for improving the lives of Palestinians, particularly the refugees in the Gaza Strip.

Though Hamas was committed from the outset to destroying Israel, it took the position that this was a goal for the future, and that the more immediate focus should be on winning the hearts and minds of the people through its charitable and educational activities. Its funding came primarily from Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The PLO was convinced that Israel was helping Hamas in the hope of triggering a civil war. Since Hamas did not engage in terror at first, Israel did not see it as a serious short-term threat, and some Israelis believed the rise of fundamentalism in Gaza would have the beneficial impact of weakening the PLO, and this is what ultimately happened.

Hamas certainly didn't believe it was being supported by Israel. As early as February 1988, the group put out a primer on how its members should behave if confronted by the Shin Bet. Several more instructional documents were distributed by Hamas to teach followers how to confront the Israelis and maintain secrecy.

Israel's assistance was more passive than active; that is, it did not interfere with Hamas activities or prevent funds from flowing into the organization from abroad. Israel also may have provided some funding to allow its security forces to infiltrate the organization. Meanwhile, Jordan was actively helping Hamas, with the aim of undermining the PLO and strengthening Jordanian influence in the territories.

Though some Israelis were very concerned about Hamas before rioting began in December 1987, Israel was reluctant to interfere with an Islamic organization, fearing that it might trigger charges of violating the Palestinians' freedom of religion. It was not until early in the intifada, when Hamas became actively involved in the violence, that the group began to be viewed as a potentially greater threat than the PLO. The turning point occurred in the summer of 1988 when Israel learned that Hamas was stockpiling arms to build an underground force and Hamas issued its covenant calling for the destruction of Israel. At this point it became clear that Hamas was not going to put off its jihad to liberate Palestine and was shifting its emphasis from charitable and educational activity to terrorism. Israel then began to crack down on Hamas and wiped out its entire command structure. Hamas has been waging a terror war against Israel ever since.

Au contraire, you are mistaken. Educate YOURSELF by reading "The Controversy Of Zion" and research the USS Liberty. Also check out http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/

You'll find that the State of Israel is not the peaceful neighbor and US ally that the controlled US media would have you believe. The State of Israel does a TERRIBLE disservice to true and virtuous Jews worldwide. tears

P.S. There's plenty of racism and barbarism on the Israeli side, too.

Don't be silly. I know about the USS Liberty and I know about the ridiculous Zionist conspiracy theories. This book is just a transparent false rehash of the infamous antisemitic forgery "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion". This has nothing to do with Hamas - you bring it up only because you have no real justification.

Save your tears. Israel has been at war pretty much since before her existence. That means protecting her citizens and armed conflict - I know they are neither pussycats nor blameless - but again it has nothing to do with Hamas.

Israel uses checkpoints and only attacks those who launch rockets or bomb them. If Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and Hizbullah and their ilk stopped attacking innocent civilians the fighting would be over and the Palestinians could begin to live their lives and prosper in peace and security. Simple as that. Checkpoints are not the same as bus bombs and purposefully killing civilians with no other goal except to kill civilians. That is the difference between Israel and Hamas.

That is what should disgust you, honestly.

rofl

Wiped out?!

rofl

That sounds a little more like Ahmadinejad to me...

Eminent domain?

Are you forgetting perhaps that the Israelis were repeatedly
attacked by all their neighbors before taking over the territory
in a series of defensive wars not of their own choosing?

laugh

And that they already gave most of the land back? The Negev? Gaza?
Gee...I find it pretty obvious that Israel did not create Hamas.

I should be disgusted that Arabs are defending their historical homeland? what The modern "nation" of Israel was created in the 50's-land stolen from Arabs. Prior to that, "Israel" was nothing more than a group of wandering semitic tribes.

Further, by your logic, it should be okay to target women and children in war (the way that the Israeli State does).

How come ISRAEL is the ONLY ONE who has to justify ITS actions ... ? I don't ever recall Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Fatah, etc etc bein' called on the carpet for suicide bombin', rocketing, invading (remember the 'Six-Day War' or the 'Yom Kippur War'?), or taking Israeli soldiers (say 'Gilad Shalit') hostage ... Sorry, but I got NO sympathy for the AGGRESSORS who have tried non-stop since the creation of Israel to wipe it off the face of the earth. How 'bout let THEM justify THEIR actions for a change ... ?

It is no more the Arabs historical homeland than the Israelis historical homeland. Israel is one of the first documented countries historically and Jews have lived there continuously since antiquity despite many conquerors and expulsions. It has NEVER been a documented Arab country.

laugh

The Israelis go out of their way to WARN women and children about any military action. Dropping leaflets, broadcasting on radio, even phone calls in areas where there are military operations!!

Compare that to Hamas tactics where they bomb buses, school cafeterias and restaurants and markets....Compare it to shooting rockets into cities indiscriminately TRYING mind you to actually kill as many people as possible.

Who teaches ethnic hatred in kindergarten, glorifying martyrdom against infidels and making antisemitic and violence glorifying cartoons for their children? Hamas and Hizbullah. Not Israel. Right.

Israel is doing an admirable job. Sure they have their problems.
But overall it is a free press, open democracy with complete freedom of religion and a place of equality for women. They have been surviving with the daily threat of 911 style terrorist attacks for decades and yet for the most part remain an optimistic and well adjusted society with incredible technical innovation, robust agriculture, and a growing economy. Much to admire there. I admire them. If the Palestinians put down their weapons they could prosper too - even as allies of the Israelis when they so choose.

As I see it the main obstacle is ignorance and prejudice with a radical Islamic fundamentalism which denies the equality of Jews and Christians and other religions as they seek to force their backward ways on everyone else.

Would a "leaflet campaign" make it okay for Russia to bomb your neighborhood if they claim they're after "terrorists"? FYI, there's also a radical faction of Jews who equate Arabs to "pigs" and advocate genocide against them. There are few innocent parties in the dispute-and they usually end up killed in the crossfire.

Since you (and most Americans) are so terribly ignorant of foreign conflicts, it seems like better, smarter policy to stay out of it.

I agree that Christian Zionism is a problem. There are some Christians who get it, though, so it's not wise to paint them with a broad brush.
