I was with my baby boys in my home office of my steel building company they were napping nearby when I heard an incoming news report and turned on the television in time to see the second plane fly into the next building.....I let the whole crew go home for the day if they wished it.... Yeah well it was my opinion you do not know who has family where and if you are going to be on my jobsite......keep your head on the job....allowing it was humanitarian but a wise business decision as well......insurance rates vs injuries on the job.... Maybe because everyone makes me validate everything.....so when I do something I try to think of all the benefits that drive the decisions to convince the my job supervisor, the client, and anyone my crew affects......it really is more than just my decision to an extent..... |

I had just come home from another of my bad life experiences. I was sleeping on my Mom's couch and she woke me up just after the first plane hit with the words " You really need to wake up and see this. "
I watched for a few minutes....saw the second plane hit, and went and got my brother. We sat for the rest of the morning watching. |

I was coming into work about 5 minutes late. Everyone was gawking at the television in disbelief as the second plane hit the tower!

was at home had that day off..think i was folding clothes with the tv on OMG - that's what I was doing - exactly when the space shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986 - I was watching it on TV - kids were napping - excited because I always loved the space program - watched it launch and when it exploded I thought - wait that's not right - then there was a horrible silent pause on TV - no one said anything - like a frozen moment then they announced the explosion and I stood there stock still for I do not know how long - holding some item of clothing from the laundry pile in my hand and staring at the TV screen yet seeing and hearing nothing - in shock essentially- my next concious memory - I was crying but I don't remember starting to cry..............OMG - it was awful |

I was on the copuch watching tv, recuperating from my first surgery 4 days prior. When seeing that Made up my mind never! to feel sorry for myself, with all that horrifcness going on. Then I got a little worried, hoping one of my brothers hadn't taken the day off from work that day. But all was well for them.

I had just woken up and turned on the news. I called my boss and told him to turn on the news and that I was going to be late to work. I sat on my bed and watched crying.

I was at work as a 911 operator. It was very eerie in that once the second plane hit and people realized what was happening, all calls ceased. I mean, dead silence for minutes, no incoming emergency calls, no radio traffic from the cops. It was as if the world just stopped.
Ironically, the first call that came in after the eerie silence was from a retired air traffic controller wanting the number to the pentagon. He wanted to to tell them that it must be terrorism since there's no way two planes could hit the towers by accident. I reassured him that the pentagon was aware of the situation and went back to watching the TV. It was a very slow day after that. I think even the criminals were stunned into submission, temporarily of course. |

I was sleeping, and when I woke up, I turned on the tv, and was shocked.

I was in grade school. Turned on the TV to watch morning cartoons before going to school, new channel came on before I switched to the toons, but my parents asked me to turn it back in time to see the first tower fall. Scary day.

Ya know I think that was one day in history that will forever be burned within the memories of everyone...........
Myself I was driving down 917 on the way to work when I heard the first announcement over the radio. Remember turning the radio up louder thinking I must have heard that wrong.....then the panic in the voices as they were saying OMG a second plane hit the second tower as well...... As soon as I got to work the first thing I did was turn on the tv watching the live shots they had in total shock. It is a day just as when the shuttle blew up in mid air I will never forget......... 1/28/1986 I was standing in the living room watching it on tv as it took off....... It was one day that sent cold chills down my back that shook me to the bone......... |

We pored over the newswires trying to get all the info we could and we immediatly put put a special addition, still have copies of that as a reminder of how bad things can be!!

I was snoozing on the living room sofa with the tv on after I got the ex off to work, kind of in and out of sleep. I woke up while the first tower hit was smoking so badly and it still appeared to be a tragic accident, then suddenly the second plane hit. I sat straight up. That plane not only hit the tower, it hit me and the rest of America right in the chest. I remember feeling a collective gasp like I and every other American had the wind knocked right out of us. In that split second we all realized just how vulnerable we really are. I just kept flipping channels and praying for all those at the sites, watching in horror as the pentagon was targeted. and thinking there must've been true heroes aboard the plane that went down in PA. I went through a whole box of tissues that day.

I didn't know anything about it for almost a week. I don't watch tv and I had to work that night so i was in bed sleeping. Almost a week???? I find that hard to believe. I take it you don't TALK to anyone else in your day to day business, do not listen to radio, do not connect with society?? because that is the ONLY think ANYONE talked about for days on end. It was like the day the earth (for America) stood still I had just dropped one of my kids off at school and was on my way to work. The TV was on ALL day in our department @ the office. I think we all congregated a lot of the time to have a sense of togetherness. When devastating things like this happen it is human nature to find comfort and solace in others being closer than usual. |

Was working midnights and had just gotten home ,turned on the radio and started reading the paper on my balcony. One of the DJ's said somthing about a plane hitting one of the towers so I went inside to see if there was anything on CNN about it. I was thinking it was a Cessna or some small plane. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw unfold over the next few hours. I've never before had the feeling watching that gave me and I never want it again.
