Yeah u think u have it bad... im sure u havent seen the worst of it
yet.... although i have been inundated with emails, i have found a few cool friends which i appreciate as well and anything further than that occurs.... then sobeit.... if i sent 100 emails... i think i have a 10% response .. not bad seeing that some folks just scan email never really read it. i feel bad sometime when i dont really get longwinded with my emails .. i just say what i think at the time and hope it spurs a lil more from them... ummmm GO SPURS!! |

I have found that just randomly e-mailing people on this site doesn't
work. I tried that with a few of the locals and they don't respond. However, if you post in the forums, put yourself out there, get known a little bit, you can get noticed. I get LOTS of e-mails here now, and all of it results from things I posted in the forums. Granted, none of it is from anybody local, but you never know. Who will sign up tomorrow? Or the day after?? And a huge percentage of the e-mails I get are from people who never even post. Must be a whole lot of lurkers out there! |

For those people who aren't getting a response, can you just let us know
how many people you've mailed? Just trying to get a sense of how low the response rate is. Also, we're working hard to get more and more people onto the site so that everyone has more people to interact with in their area. If you want, you can help us spread the word by telling your friends about site! The more users we have, the better it is for everyone. Thanks! |

Personally, I think it is just being polite to respond to emails - even
to say that you aren't interested. Yes, we get innundated with them and the scammers are just annoying but... there are also genuine real people on the other side of the keyboard. Posting in the forums allows people to get a sense about your personality making it more likely that they will respond to an email without a picture. I have made some wonderful friends online - and after a year and a half, I still don't know what some of them look like. And it doesn't really matter to me. They are friends and I would have missed the richness that they have brought into my life had I not responded to them. I guess it depends upon your motivation for being here. If you think 'the one' will fall on your lap and will live 5.7 miles from you then I can predict your disappointment with some certainty. If you are here to make friends then that you can do. And you never know when one will turn out to be pretty special indeed. Best wishes. |

I will admit the least everyone could do is respond to there e-mails
even if it is just a thank you for your e-mail. That is better than noting. But now on the pic thing. Myself I feel you should at least have a pic of what you look like in your profile. You say you want them to like you for who you are not what you look like. I do understand that fully but why should the ones online not have the same advantage as the ones you meet in real life. If you meet someone in person do they not get to see whom they are talking to first? It should be no differnt online. Besides why sit and talk to someone for a month or so then show them your pic what if they don't think so after all and boom dam all that time and you found out in the end it comes down to the pic. Now that sucks. Better to weed them out early. But.......... that is only my opinion. I have my pics in my profile just not as the main one. Personaly, if things are going a more personaly basis I want to see whom I'm talking to I have shown what I look like and it is more or less just being honest with ourselves and others. There are alot that if no pic is up it stops right there. But that is up to you it does knock your chances way down without a pic of yourself up. |
