Centurion was good. Not as epic as I'd like, but good. I'm a big fan of ancient Rome so I was pretty excited to see it.
Side note: for everyone who liked Spartacus: Blood and Sand, they are making a 6 episode prequel, and then will start on season 2. |

Some re watches-
Dagon- Entertaining Stuart Gordon horror flick(loosely based on HP Lovecraft- though it's more of The Shadow Over Innsmouth than Dagon) Horror High- Super cheesy fun early 70's flick flick that is basically Jekyll and Hyde set in a high school. Class Of 1984- If Blackboard Jungle was made into an exploitation movie with punks, this would be it. |

Watched Phobia 2 today, which is a Thai horror movie comprising of 5 stories.
1. Novice This story starts out with flashbacks from a boy who was left by his mother in a remote monastery to hide him from a crime he committed. The overall concept was scarier than the visuals, though it ended on a somewhat painful note. 2. Ward A young man was involved in an accident that temporarily incapacitated his legs. He was treated and brought into a ward where his only room mate was an old man connected to a ventilator. The scares starts when night falls and he starts to be attacked, but he couldn't even stand to save his life. 3. Backpackers Two Japanese tourists hitch a ride on a cargo truck. Unbeknownst to them, the truck carried something they never imagined. This third story has zombies in them, and the movie, in my opinion, started to pick up here. It also had a classic zombie feel to it, which made it an enjoyable watch. 4. Salvage Interesting story of a mother who buys wrecked cars, fixes them, then sells them off to people saying it was just slightly used and was never involved in any accident. The story carried a moral twist in the end. 5. In The End Involved a surprisingly comedic approach and actually saved the entire movie for me. The story revolved around a horror movie being filmed and four men who worked there. Though they intentionally perpetuated a lot of cliches, it only added to the entire hilariousness of the situation. But don't be fooled, because there were some scenes that would hold your breath in anticipation. |

Latest movie seen:
A ghost movie that brings to life an old Mexican horror story of the "Crying Lady". It starts out on a lonely road marked as Km 31, a young woman, Agata, had a mysterious accident which rendered her comatose. She has a twin sister, Catalina, whom she shares a sort of psychic bond, and later realizes that her sister needs her help. In order for her to do this, she has to solve the mystery that started out on that road. Not the greatest of ghost movies, but the darkness of the movie and the atmosphere it created was certainly enough to keep me watching 'til the end. |

Rewatch-
Toolbox Murders 1978, I ended up buying this on DVD because it was so cheap. One of the sleazier 70's horror flicks. The first 20 minutes has always been the most memorable for it's brutal death scenes(especially the infamous nail gun scene), but after that the film drags as it's mostly just dialogue. This is a rare occurrence as I think the Tobe Hooper remake surpasses the original. |

Latest movie seen today:
When I first saw the trailer for this movie a couple of years ago, I thought to myself, Egad! Not another omg-someone-keeps-calling-and-not-answering-the-phone rip off on the same old babysitter-alone-in-the-house plot. That would be as enjoyable as munching on bits of dry, year old car wax. But I bought some DVDs today where this one was on sale, AND my movie guru, Torgo, recommended it, so I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised with how the movie turned out. Given, it's not the greatest among its genre, but I thought it was a genuinely well-crafted movie which put old ideas together in a way that made them seem fresh and interesting, with a heroine I could root for rather than roll my eyes at, and offered just enough gore to make me feel squeamish without being exploitative. I kind of figured the whole thing out when I saw the kid's "special diet", but I still liked the films attempt to lead their audience into believing they're going to get a straightforward slasher movie before suddenly and completely changing direction. |

I thought the same thing when I first heard of Babysitter: Wanted, I thought it was going to be a When A Stranger Calls Rip-Off. You should check out House Of The Devil- similar plot to Babysitter: Wanted, girl gets babysitting job for strange couple out in the middle of nowhere. But I personally prefer HOTD, it's more of a slow-burn type film. But, I seem to be in the minority as most people I talk to prefer Babysitter: Wanted.

Last movie seen:
The Death Factory: Bloodletting The story revolves around a mother out for revenge for her daughter who got abducted, then a footage somehow ended up online on a website catering to criminals, killers and degenerates. She spent the last two years infiltrating the group to find out where the tape came from and who made it. Through the site, she finds out about a special event called "The Bloodletting" where for two thousand dollars site members can witness someone being murdered before their very eyes. Since the man she suspects of killing her little girl will be there, She decides to attend the event. The movie started out fairly well, but as the movie progressed, I had a hard time focusing on it. That is, until the character Ana Romero produced a gun she hid in an undisclosed, um, location. Not only that, she had extra bullets too! But after that, nothing much interested me. I really thought that the film's undoing (among other things) was the oh-so loud heavy metal music played along every cliched killing scene. |

You should have been more specific, Bloodletting is the sequel, the one I was referring to is just called Death Factory. The sequel was awful. |
