I'm sure when I'm 90, I won't mind, but at 37, yes, I find it annoying.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I can think of much worse things to be called.

In the UK we dont call other females Ma'am we would say Miss..... but i think its good manners and a respectful way to be approached and addressed lot better than some one shouting HOY YOU how can i help?laugh laugh Anna x

Being called babe and sweetheart by a stranger is rather freaky but being called Ma'am or Miss i think is good manners just as it is addressing a strange guy Sir or Mr. Anna x

Naw, not really...but it does kinda remind me of how fast time is passing. Doesn't seem so long ago that the term used for me was 'Miss'. Oh, well...

Now that I am into my 50's Ma'am does seem to remind me of my age, sort of a surprise since I don't normally go through my day with my age in mind.

I do think it is a show of respect, a commodity that often seems to be a dying thing...

The first time a young stock boy called me that, my mom said...now that's when you know you are getting old!! I was like, ARE YOU KIDDING ME..I AM ONLY 45 I AM FAR FROM OLD!!
I guess it just depends on who calls me that? When my son does, I don't like it because he knows it bugs me! noway
