I said:

"Did you see my first post? Section 2 of the 14th amendment says they have the authority to take away voting rights of criminals."

you said:

"Irrelevant".

You didn't type that?

If you don't start reading the post and catching on, I am going to stop responding to you.

Read my post, it explains what is irrelevant and why.

Damn.

LOL... I give up on this one.. The supreme court won't rule to give voting rights to felons, so you are right about it being moot.. Now on to the fair pay act.. this should be good..

Then Txs, that is what our laws need to say.

Once you are found guilty of a felony you will be marked and punished for life with no quarter given.

Then we won't be hypocrits with our fake law and punishment.

Otherwise as it is written now. Once you serve your time, with the exception of sex offenders of course, you have paid your debt and should be given your rights back as we promise in our laws.

Understand what your saying but that is like when one is convicted of a DWI and they serve their time paid their money but yet the DWI is still within their record. Which in fact keeps them from certain jobs along the way. So why should those that have served jail time for much worse be exempt as if their record is wiped clean.

Many laws need to be revised which I'm all for just not for giving the criminals all their rights back in the process.noway

most people know that if they are convicted of a felon, then losing certain rights is part of the punishment. A felony isn't a slap on the wrist and then told to behave

If you have served your time and payed for your crime. You should have the same rights as everyone else.

We are such hypocrits in this country.

We want to punish and punish and punish but we don't want to give the forgiveness we talk so much about.

Did they serve their time or not?

Don't forget to " forgive " the guy who decides to take up residence in your house.

"It absolutely is a victory," Kara Gotsch, advocacy director for the Sentencing Project, told IPS. "The racial disparity that exists in the criminal justice system and discrimination is something we've been concerned about as an organisation for a long time."

Ohhh...I see more clearly now.

It's a RACE thing.

Many more african americans are incarcerated than white people....therefore....the libs want the convicted felons to be able to vote so there are more african american folks to vote for liberals. More votes for Obama next time around.

What a concept.

felons lose the right to bear arms too. I don't believe they should have the right to own guns if they are a convicted felon

Common sense should be the law of the land,,,but whose common sense,,?

Someone convicted of theft,, should have to be honest about that and would not be the best fit for a bank or retail position,,,someone convicted of drunk driving,, wouldnt be a great fit for a trucking job ,,etc,,

what any of those crimes has to do with voting however, escapes me.

If you do the crime, you do the time.
Once you are once again a productive tax paying citizen,,your voice should count as anyone elses in the election process.

IMHO

Pennsylvania laws must be different, felons can and do vote after their entire sentence is up.....

lol. Im anti gun, personally. But as a right,I dont feel it should be revoked on the mere basis of having a felony(unless it involved a gun).
