I don't blame Bush. I blame Congress and their decisions they make. I think the two party reign should have ended a long time ago. Of course this is my opinion.

I blame every American who voted for a stupid moron to become the president of the most powerful and most admired country in the world !!!.
When you elect crap then all you get is pure crap .

I think Bush did a very good job running this country considering the circumstances.I generally agreed with most of what Bush did but of course there was many things that I couldn't believe he wasn't addressing.I deeply admired his firm stance against other nations that were threatening us.I think most people knew that when George bush said he was going to do something he was going to do it.I liked how he wasn't afraid of political correctness or approval ratings. He was a good talker and seemed to have a solution to most problems. Two of the things I admire most was he kept us safe under multiple threats from multiple countries and he kept the economy going strong.I like how he was patriotic.I remember him flying deep into Afghanistan shortly after the war begin to serve soldiers dinner. That took a lot of guts and he was risking his own life to be there.

I think after having Obama in the White house we can all see now that Bush ran things much smoother and had much better ideas.Despite Bush's sometimes "what was he thinking" moments it would be a breath of fresh air if Obama would take a 1 month vacation and let Bush get back in for a while.

I can agree with you on that (that the 2 party system is a failure).

What would have happened to the United States economically and politically if President Bush didn't send any troops to Afghanistan or Iraq? That would be interesting to know.

That is a kinda interesting what if

If Saddam had stayed in power? sooner or later he would have retaken Kuwait. He wanted it so bad he was foaming at the mouth. Saddam had an illusion of making Iraq the seat of Islam excpet he was too secular and concerned only with power.

Most likely we would have seen a war between Iraq and Saudi

In Aghanistan, if the Taliban had stayed in power it prolly would have spread to Pakistan and Tajikstan and we prolly would have seen Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan merge into a great Islamic Republic. Which in and of itself wouldnt be a bad thing but the Wahabis would have had the power and influence to enforce their brand of sharia on most all of Islam

and in the end long run I suspect we would have wound up with a world wide religious war

Yes I do agree. If you remember Russia was also on the fence and was very upset over the war as they were one of the main suppliers to arms to some of these terrorist countries. It seems to me that Iran and Iraq were both flexing their muscles and trying to see how far they could push the United states before we started pushing back.North korea was also getting involved and daily threats of destroying Israel by Iran and Iraq was not only threatened but promised.Add reports that Sadaam was making a nuclear warhead and you have all the workings of World war three.Iraq destroys Israel. Iran,Iraq,China,Russia, and North korea all form one superpower to destroy the United states.I do believe we were coming very close to this reality if we did not invade Iraq.

All this BS about going to war for oil is such idiotic nonsense I don't see how anyone can still believe it.Do you not know that the United states does not run gas stations? They do not sell oil.Taxes on gasoline are taxed by the GALLON.Which means the 30 cents per gallon tax is the same regardless if the price is 10 cents a gallon or 10 dollars a gallon. They are still taxed the same. The people buying the oil are private companies.Even if it was about oil would it make sense to spent the trillion or so dollars to get the couple of million in kickbacks from the oil companies?Even if you took all the profits from all the oil companies for the whole year it would take probably 20 years before you broke even.

He proved that even if you are supposed to be running the country, it is entirely alright to go on a whole bunch of vacations. After all, you are president, who would stop you?

Actually, the pres isn't in charge of the whole country, according to the Constitution. The daily operations go on without the president due to the checks and balances in the Constitution. It is unfortunate that public schools teach kids to think that the president is in charge of everything viz a dictator nowadays. Jefferson, et. al. would be sad. frustrated

Well the President does have the power to Veto any bill which means he is basically running the country. But his Veto can be throw out by a 3/4 vote in Congress so I guess in that sense it is really Congress who is running the country.

thank you quietman for being a rational, logical voice in this thread, regardless of all the childish responses. I completely agree that history is the only judge. Many replies about him being an idiot and running the country into the ground do nothing but prove the ignorance of the poster in their knowledge of the topic and the system as a whole.
