ya well go figure its obviously gonna be trail and error when ur tryin to find some new way to do business...it seems kinda funny to hold one man responsible for a nations dilemma... Between my company and personal finance it took quite a few tries to set up a method that's really functional....I imagine our nations budget is quite a bit more complicated
it seems as if people either want to give obama total fault or credit for the outcome... I don't think he's personally responsible for alot of the writing or even creation of alot of these ideas ...I'm sure he's told what the intention of the main bill is without calling attention to the many underwritings writted into bills...it seems he's approving and backing ideas... Unfortunately alot of ideas only work on paper |

Companies have cut back on staff and found they could do without them. Productivity has increased because everyone is working harder. So since productivity has increased, companies are saying "What the heck, why hire now? Let's wait until the economy turns around."
Trouble is, the economy won't turn around until the Companies start hiring again. It's a viscious circle. |

I have been unemployed for over a year. Thank goodness for Obama's stimulus plan or I would probably be homeless. I'm not a deadbeat either. I have usually worked three jobs at a time most of my life. I have a bachelor's degree, nursing school (no degree), and excellent secretarial skills. I have applied to over 100 and something jobs (the ones I have listed) probably a 100 more that I haven't written down. What else does one do?

Trouble is, the economy won't turn around until the Companies start hiring again. It's a viscious circle. companies are having trouble hiring because they are having trouble keeping business.. All this bail out business and the picking and choosing that the stimulus bill has built into it has everybody guessing who's gonna get bailed out next and who's in line for the next round of stimulus money.. I still say that if they had just come in and put a temporary halt to income taxes and capital gains taxes and actually encouraged growth, rather than discouraging it, the breaks might have been put on the downward slide a long time ago.. and yes, I'm refering both to Bush and Obama.. Too big to fail means 'monopoly'.. banks go down all the time.. If they had just let the fire cleanse the forest, growth would be on the way by now.. instead, still have ever increasing unemployment and now they're telling us to get used to it, that it'll be around for a while.. anyone remember when unemployment was down around 4-5% and the media was all telling us about the recession we were in.. Bush's 4-5% looking pretty good right about now.. |

with all due respect Bush was an idiot, but he did understand one thing, cater to big business and at least people have jobs. Obama's campaign promise that he was going to tax big business more sent them elsewhere and it created a trickle down effect to you know who, the working stiff.....our economy won't be right for a long long time and unfortunately your childrens children will be left to clean up this garbage. Hell we don't even own our own country anymore, The Saudi's, China and japan do.....and you're right it happened long before Obama, he just made it worse. In the 60's every television set in america was made in america, now none are....
But here's a quick fix solution to jump start the economy and at least put people back to work and save some health care funds. Boot all of the illegal immigrants out of the country, and levy huge fines for those companies that hire them, that should open up about 5 million jobs. and save tons in free healthcare |

That was the beauty of it) and what we are headed to is a failure of epic proportions. I hope people can start to see just how empty all his promises of hope and change really were. Sure, the GDP rose and the stock market is up, but check out just about every other indicator and nothing has become any better. I guess if you lie to yourself enough, eventually you start to believe it. |

Well, if I had listened to Glenn Beck, he was telling everyone to go pull all their money out of the bank a year ago....he said this is it, this is the big one! Go get all you money out NOW! Funny, it still hasn't crashed. If people would just chill out and start acting normal, maybe things would get back to normal sooner. I believe part of the problems is all this damned fear mongering. |

I think it should be pointed out that in the past when a persons uemployment benefits ran out he/she was no longer counted as unemployed. Obamas and Bush's (ouch that hurt) compassion in extending benefits is keeping people counted longer than in the past. This is probably one of the first times the unemployment figure reflects an accurate number. Had benefits not been extended to millions the figure would be lower but the reality differant.

Fail. unemployment includes all those actively seeking work and those on unemployment (as many of them do not look for work). The only ones not included are the discouraged workers and those that work in "non-workplace" jobs (for lack of a better term) such as maintaining the home. So no, it's not accurate because there are many, many people who have given up looking. Either way, increased benefits have nothing to do with the number other than it pays some people for longer to sit on their ***. |

Either way, increased benefits have nothing to do with the number other than it pays some people for longer to sit on their ***. from http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm "Some people think that to get these figures on unemployment, the Government uses the number of persons filing claims for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits under State or Federal Government programs. But some people are still jobless when their benefits run out, and many more are not eligible at all or delay or never apply for benefits. So, quite clearly, UI information cannot be used as a source for complete information on the number of unemployed." I repeat...Fail. Thanks for playing. |

vote republican next time I'd really rather not. And before you say it, I voted McCain. |

Should have voted for Ron Paul.

Should have voted for Ron Paul. I supported him for the nomination, but a third party candidate has no chance at the presidency. i simply voted the (slightly) lesser of two evils. i think that is the largest fatal flaw (next to the fed) that our government has. we need to eliminate the party system and simply take the top 10 or something. maybe play NCAA style and work our way down from 16 |

10.2% for unemployment for those actually collecting anything.
17.8% including those no longer searching, no longer collecting unemployment money or who have parttime jobs that really aren't supporting anything. I personally believe that is higher, but it's still a sad state. From CBS 11 (Dallas, TX) news |
