I've loaned money. I think the key, and someone might have said this, is never expect it back.

I've loaned money. I think the key, and someone might have said this, is never expect it back. You know many have said you should not expect it back. Hummm so if you loan anything to a friend whether it be money, lawnmower ect then it seems that many believe that we should not expect them to return these items...... So just curious has it gotten to the point that we no longer can trust ones words anymore?...........that is a shame. |

If it were me, I would beg, borrow, and steal, to pay you back, just so that you and I could maintain our friendship. I just hope you didn't learn this at too high a price. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being kindhearted or generous. But some people will use you and take advantage of that. Watch out for them, the users. |

I have noticed a lot less respect in our society.
It is sad but true |

People borrow money because they don't have any.
People borrow money from friends because no one else will lend it to them. Either way your chances of getting it back are slim and none. |

That sucks Txs and yes it's happened to me as well Hell but I'm glad because for a measly $20.00 I found out the type of person she was, so of course I came out the winner. Money comes and goes but true friendship cannot be bought. Ohhhh I hear you this is one that I called my best friend for over 20 years. There had been times he had no place to live I opened my home to him on more then one occasion. Till he was able to get back on his feet. Sure if he pays me back I will still talk to him but..........will I stick my neck out for him again the door that was once opened to him it seems he has slammed it in my face..... Sadly people like these always need help in one form or another. Thankfully I have mastered saying, No, sorry can't help you. Because even if the amount is $1.00 to like 1956 said $15K, it was loaned out with the expectation of it being repaid. Which then defeats the purpose of giving to start with, if you're gonna give with the idea that you will get back. kleisto, where are you getting the idea that I or Txs gave away the money? the money was loaned, like you borrowing my pen, I expect it back same principle. A pen is different then cash though, the pen is being used and then returned, it's slightly different with cash at least to me. Well if you have that kind of money to give away. Send some to me lol. When a person LOANS you money, you pay it back. Loaning and giving are 2 different things. Look it up. |

I've loaned money. I think the key, and someone might have said this, is never expect it back. Been thinking about this. While I tend to have gotten used to people not living up to the high expectations I have them I do think if some one uses the veil of freindship to get something from you; especially help to keep them out of "hotwater" if they don't make good on it you have full permission to let them have it. I am not big on airing failures because I think it stamps "kick me" on your forhead but not letting people get over on you for free is is a good balance. |
