Don't believe in the Bible but you still believe in God.. ..Does that make you any less of a believer? I had this debate with a Priest, and I was wondering if I could have some outside opinions. Thanx. there are Christians that claim that Jesus Christ is God and they are a sect that don't believe in the bible because the bible contradicts that belief they also regard the stories in the bible as being told in a metaphoric context and was not handed down or "Inspired" by the word of God |

Don't believe in the Bible but you still believe in God.. ..Does that make you any less of a believer? I had this debate with a Priest, and I was wondering if I could have some outside opinions. Thanx. It really wouldn't make any sense to believe in God and not believe in the bible since the bible is Gods word telling us how we should lead our lives.I suppose you could believe in God and never read the bible but that is like being born and never spending a single day in school and thinking you know everything. Not knowing the bible would also lead to a enormous amount of confusion and bad decision making. What God would you be following and worshiping? The Christian God of the God of some other religion? How would you know how to pray, what to pray for and how many times a day?How would you know how to treat people? What about work ethics and moral decisions. The bible is not just a book but it is a living, breathing, extension of God and has much power. The bible was so important to Jesus he almost always said when speaking "it is written" or "you have read".Even when Jesus was tempted by Satan he said "it is written"(as reference to the bible)and quoted bible verses. If you do believe in God but not the bible then I would say you are more in the spiritual not religious group since there is really no reason to be a Christian if you are not going to follow and obey what the bible says including the ten commandments. |

Don't believe in the Bible but you still believe in God.. ..Does that make you any less of a believer? religion and god goes hand in hand...it's impossible to have one without the other .... those that claim to believe in the god of the bible but don't believe in the bible are not believers since it is supposedly believing in the bible and having "faith" in that bible that supposedly makes you a believer of that god in that bible |

Different faces.. Different words.. Yet all remains the same. idk.. maybe I'm looking for an answer that noone really has. Something to make me say, 'Dayum, didn't think of that.' But it's all the same arguement.. "Don't believe the bible ur not a believer." Type deals.. mixed with.. "Bible was written by Man, not God." Who ya gonna trust issues.. Then got those who are like: "If you believe, nothing else matters." I think I'm just searching for an answer.. I can't possibly expect to find in this life... |

the bible is God's living word...so to believe in him is to believe in his word Many claim that their scriptures are the true word of God....a Christian says it is the bible....for you it IS the bible. The bible is not the only ancient set of scriptures out there. I myself lean towards the Gita as it is the only scriptures that claim God spoke directly to Arjuna...(and it is beautiful) hence no need for any middle man such as the authors of the bible..or Mohammad. I am not a Hindu, I am not a Christian, I am not a follower of Islam.... I do know there is something much bigger than me, yet I am a part of it. One not need to be a believer in any religion to be a believer....and to live with a christ like love. |

Maybe the whole point is that you ARE searching for questions and answers.......isn't that what Life is really about??? |

Don't believe in the Bible but you still believe in God.. ..Does that make you any less of a believer? I had this debate with a Priest, and I was wondering if I could have some outside opinions. Thanx. well with all due respect to Christians, from my point of view, if God created the universe and everything in it, and all the stars and galaxies, then one single book however spiritually profound shouldn't be such a big deal, though that said, the story of Jesus tells me a LOT more about Love then I've read anywhere else, but the problem with accepting words as totally right no matter what...well you can't with the bible, as it contradicts itself, the New Testament is completely different to the Old One, the only thing that's the same is that we still sacrifice sheep to make an offering to God...that is, an offering to Life itself, by eating the sheep (lamb) to sustain our life. |

The bible absolutely does not contradict itself. The old testiment was the laws for people that lived before jesus came to the earth. Jesus came to the earth to do away with the old law and give us the new law. And where in the world does it say to sacrifice a sheep in the newtestiment? Jesus was the lamb of God, he was the ultimate sacrifice so we no longer had to sacrifice animals. He came to be crucified for your sins buddy. So yes the new testiment is way different then the old testiment, but that is cause we no longer follow the old testiment, our law is the new testiment. |

then why do most bibles come with an Old Testament and how come in just about every Christian church I've been to, they read stuff from the Old Testament at some point or another, why not scrap it altogether and just leave the New Testament??

then why do most bibles come with an Old Testament and how come in just about every Christian church I've been to, they read stuff from the Old Testament at some point or another, why not scrap it altogether and just leave the New Testament?? Because the life of Jesus is in the old testiment and everything he did. Everything he did and sacrificed for us. An example of how we are suppose to do our lives. Can't do the exact things jesus did, but we can relate to it and relate that to our lives now. Eg., It tells where Jesus fed someone hungry, that shows an example of being humble and nice to other people and take care of the needy. One little example of what we're suppose to be like. |

Ok,, forget the whole testament thing..
How about this.. Jesus.. if he was down here to spread the new 'law' to ALL his people.. How come Christianity is far more world spread? Think about it.. Time of Jesus wasn't on American of England soil.. It was, ironically, around the places that believe in totally different Gods. Now, how about the empires that were steadily around in this time: Romans, Greeks, Persians, Japanese and Chinese.. Wouldn't they all accept and believe but only one God exists? Furthermore, the Indians of America knew absolutely nothing of this 'God' of yours.. So, to say he was here solely to 'inform us all of the new law' did he not truly fail, ultimately, in this 'job'? Also, why did the Nazi's and the Crusaders' take the bible context in such a drastic and murderous way if it is so clear on what we are to do to find our ways into this so-called sweet sanctum? |

And the Bible as you know it, IS full of contradictions...over 150 at that, would you like the list? |
