Who was the genius that thought this up??? It's worse now gettin tv stations in with my antenna then before! I can only get 2 stations instead of 3 before. A train goes by the signal gets disrupted. A semi goes by on the highway beside the house the signal gets disrupted. It seems I have to reprogram the d@mn box everyday cause of signal disruptions. Anybody got any inexpensive suggestions? Cable around here is too expensive for my budget, so I have no choice but to use an antenna. Any good inexpensive ones out there?

digital is a big pain
it freezes just like the dish services and don't let it get cloudy or start raining you may as well turn the TV off I know Target had some nice antennas... I know around here it's hard to find any good ones since everything has gone digital... |

I'm so disgusted with the change over. It seems it basically forces u to get cable if u want to really have tv. Hmmm, was that the master plan after all??????

They claimed they switched to digital so that radiation could be used even less. I'm not really sure I get it.

The reason for switching from analog to digital was to allow broadcasters to multcast and to free up some of the RF spectrum in the United States. It has absolutely nothing to do with 'radiation'. There's other reasons for it also. There were lobbyist funded by big companies pushing for the switch to digital. Some of the points were good in that Digital TV allows for more video (channels so to say) on the same amount of spectrum and also makes it possible to transmit HD video. But a lot true motivation to the digital switch came from corporations wanting to cash in. |

yes you're being forced to switch over. and thats really what the set top box is all about. there's no real solution to television without it. i've known the converters to work pretty well overall.
and i think you can still get the discount they were handing out for the devices. its like a 20 dollar credit toward the converter which is retailing in at about 60. i think you meant radio waves from like the radio ant. that were being built all over the place that caused a lot of public concern. there's a wave of technology thats about to crash on our shores we are totally unnprepared for. |

A good external antenna would probably do the trick, but obviously that will cost a few dollars.

I'm so disgusted with the change over. It seems it basically forces u to get cable if u want to really have tv. Hmmm, was that the master plan after all?????? It's a scam, even if it's cable. Satellite TV makes more sense and cheaper if you don't need the fancy channels. Drop the damn cable..it's a prehitoric technology kept alive by expensive fees that the gullable public continues to pay. My brother in Europe has wireless internet...meaning he gets internet service through radiosignals from tall towers from a town 30 miles away. Works just like the am/fm radio and no telephone wire and no cable needed, but just an antenna. Amazingly this sort of technology has been blacklisted in USA, due to the amazing power and rule of the cable tv companies and telephone companies. |

the thing with digital is you receive it perfectly or not at all. there is no snow or weak signals.
either your system gets the 1's and 0's and decodes it or it doesn't. nothing in between |

There's nothing worth while on TV anyway. Except Oprah, and even she is leaving.
