What different races and nationalities of people have you had the pleasure of being around throughout your life? Note that i said 'pleasure'. This is not a thread to moan about or attack anyone. This is a thread to help eachother understand more about people with different cultures. It can be a touchy subject, so lets just keep it positive. What are some good things you have learnt about(or from) these groups of people? I live in a melting pot Honey you name it, we have it or we did have it & one thing i learned and continually learn is that we all are so much the same under all the outward stuff and smiles are the universal language |

I have been around a lot of different cultures and races since I was a small child. I was brought up to respect and treat people the way I want to be treated.
One thing I have learned, you can depend on your friends more than you can some of your immediate family. Plus working for 40 years around other people of different cultures and races. You learn and obseve from them as they learn and observe from you.I would not trade their friendship for any thing in the world. |

Races and nationalities? I don't understand. What is that?
I only know individuals of various minds that each show much promise if you present kindness and love. |

Races and nationalities? I don't understand. What is that? I only know individuals of various minds that each show much promise if you present kindness and love. So everyone is an individual? Are you denying culture? Everyone is unique with their own individual idealogy of how life should be or how it is runned. Only when we eliminate nationalities and racial identifications and differences will we finally find true peace and harmony in this world. I always enjoy my time entertaining on weekends a foster home with various children each with different backgrounds. What I like the most about them is they don't care about race or nationality. They only care about having a good time with each other. It is when the child gets older are they exposed to this that seperates us from identifying each other as so. As an humanitarian of over 15 years travelling to over 33 countries in my lifetime have I personally come to this conclusion that serves me personally well accepting all humans as the same in every aspect just with different idealogies to find happiness. When you can relate with all of them can you accept all of them in many ways. We are but a strand of a bigger web that keeps this world alive. Learn all the strands and the web is the most enjoyeable ride one can ever take. |

I dont think it is at all possible for us to ever eliminate nationalities or racial identification though, as good as the idea might sound in theory. So i think its more important to embrace the differences and enjoy them, rather to try and pretend that the differences arent there. What i would prefer is everyone treating everybody else with the same level of respect, rather than treating them the same per se. |

Understanding others? Who knows...do we even understand ourselves?
APPRECIATING others of different races? Absolutely! It's so much fun to interact with people who have different outlooks on life and cultural norms without judgement attached. People ARE different and it's a great thing! |

I've been privileged to have gone to school with, been friends with or have in my family, every single race you can imagine. Experiences haven't been pleasant or unpleasant along race lines but rather on an individual basis. Aye... I have been many places. Some people are people. Some people are kool but reserved (with cautious reason). Some people are aware that predjuce is wrong and try. Some people are just plain bigots... and not a think you can do about it. I found this to be true in every part of the world I have visited so far. Most of the people I met fit in the 'people' catagory. |

What i would prefer is everyone treating everybody else with the same level of respect, rather than treating them the same per se. When we can embrace that we are all humans with the same needs then we can create true peace and harmony throughout the planet. Until then we shall continue to watch the many disagreements, bigotry, superstitions, differences, racism, intolerance, dangerous egos, and other petty reasons for keeping a planet unstable. I have seen too many cultures clash because of different national prides, color, race, and idealogies in my profession. If the human ego doesn't disappear then we shall never see peace. It is sad to study in history and it is sad to watch on the news, and it is even worse to experience in reality. Such an idealogy that I dream for will probably remain nothing more then a dream, yet I preach the impossible regardless if many can't grasp it as a possiblity. I shall just remain a idealist that keeps dreaming the impossible. Sorry to have killed your thread. I am sure you will find many people who will tell you stories of how they personally have met and got along with many nationalities and races. Have fun with it and I hope you learn something unique from them |

WE must appreciate and embrace the DIFFERENCES that make up people...to embrace them and respect the differences is the idealistic view that I strive for...that I dream of... There are many differences among people...that enables me to learn, to respect, to embrace those differences in human beings... we may all have the same needs, yet many people are at different levels of those needs...and THAT must be respected to grow as 'one' in the Universe... true peace and harmony can and WILL be achieved...I believe that as well... I do believe that to respect the differences in cultures, colors, and needs will result in One Love... People may need the same thing, yet, not at the same time...a person must go where that person is to start the growth process...and that is different in different cultures and colors... we do not need to be the same in order to respect each other... JMO... sorry Dan for getting off topic.... |
